I didn't even know that banks were transacting with it. Xpy how does it work with your bank?

Basically most aussie banks have a subsidiary that offer instant internet transfer once payment has been confirmed for purchase.

In terms of cashing out the same subsidiary is used. Pay anonymously via bank transfer, paypal (yes PAYPAL) or old school cash in mail ;-)

You can use paypal to fund sportsbooks too. Just not in the USA.

What would the advantages of bitcoins be for sports betting for someone that say does not live in a heavily freedom restricted country?

Your typical book will not allow anonymity. The places that might (ie the ones that actually book wagers) people probably don't care about it. If I am out of the USA I can wd from pinnacle to neteller and spend the cash 5 minutes later on my neteller debit card. Why would anyone want to add in a bit coin transfer and currency risk factor to the equation?

If you are trying to hide winnings you are going to eventually have to move them to your name/assets or they are no good to you.

Rito, personally its not about ''hiding' money as much as it is about finding somewhere where i dont have to trust someone on the other end of the transaction, especially given current climate of uncertainty.

Given that as a sportsbettor would you rather have your money locked up somewhere where a real risk resides that you could wake up one morning and your money in that book becomes worthless due to the degration of the national currency, or somewhere where you dont have to trust/concern yourself with that aspect of the world and where the only way you could lose as much is if EVERYONE left btc??

I know my preference, where TRUST IS A MUST.

BTC just cracked $90 per coin btw...

Apparently Cyprus is behind the crazy BTC rate hike.

How high do you think it's getting in the next 6 months?
Alot of speculators in the market.

Last couple of weeks has been driven by a combination of FINcen ruling and people from debt crippled eurozone countries (esp spain) making a run on BTC after news of Cyprus ruling 1st came to hand.

A part of me believes we will see a slight correction (IE 20% for BTC is slight) when the psychological $100 barrier is broken but until we see people stopping runs on banks then expect btc to be strong with continued growth imo...

it reaches $145 at one point

instawallet.org hacked, shuts down, anyone over 50btc in account are screwed

mtgox.com gets ddos attacked

Quite a bit of a downswing today.

Blittser and I are having some fun with this boys.

Matty I'm on the coaster with you guys. I'm getting more and then I'm going to get them on my secure wallet and sit back.

So much for my prediction of relaxation when it hit $100 lol

Its becoming apparent that all btc exchanges are going to have to become decentralized eventually, like btc itself, thus eliminating these almost daily Ddos attacks.

Still,i like the fact they were open and communicable about it, keeping account users informed.

Yeah, but how? How do you bypass every fokken institution?

Yes good article. It's not easy for the common man to understand it all. They are going to have to simplify things for wider adoption.

Matty, if your worried then hold them in your wallet that is decentralized.

My understanding is that there are also several decentralized third-party intermediaries in operation.

Problem is the currency is still in its infancy. Smaller exchanges are less likely to be target of hackers but smaller operations are also the ones that tend to go out of operation, along with users coins.

Mining this stuff was/still is the way to go. We need to get a syndicate together and group purchase a coin rig.

I just bought a Casascius coin. Mostly for shits and giggles.
