Damn man prohibitive insurance codes? In that they don't want people driving?

The commute adjustment has been extremely trying here, from rolling over and picking up a laptop to having to walk roughly 4 strides to work from a desktop. It's about adjustments and how you handle them. Cami actually has to go to a different room, pure Hell.

Do you guys get dressed for work? My brother told me I should continue to get up and get dressed as if I was going to a "real" job so I don't get out of the habit if/when I have to go back to the corporate world. I guess technically he's my "boss," but Bwhahaha. I am lucky if I get out my pjs some days, much less putting on office wear on days when I'm home all day. I get what he is saying, but it's just not happening.

Nah we're on commission in large part, production/profit keeps everyone happy. I could see that theory though depending on what someone is doing especially if your boss says to do it. If we have to get dolled up to pick up documents or something we do. For me getting on a heater and closing a few gives me 100x the confidence of dressing for work but it's a pretty specific situation. I get what your brother means when I look in the mirror and wonder why grizzly adams is looking back.

Jaysus Matty $48/month Geico here. The fok.

Yeah. I think it was in the context of me wanting to try to treat this more as a "real" job. He was just wanting to make sure I think that I keep my skills and work ethic going etc while I'm on this hiatus of sorts. In some ways the idea of going back to an office job is really appealing, but at other times (especially in this weather,) I am quite content to chlll.

You know it's funny yes it makes you feel that sense of routine of the professional world which is a healthy thing. There's many reasons why Cami doing what we do with me is gratifying but a big one is all the specific situations and speaking with another person about them, otherwise they just seem to rattle around your brain.

Worst part of office life to me is the lights and migraines.

I loved my co workers. I miss the routine and self worth associated with taking pride in your work blah blah... Funny though, when I was working, I used to always joke about loving to be a stay at home mom type who got to go to the gym and surf the net all day (minus the kids) And here I am...and getting paid for it....but while it's rewarding in it's own way, I miss working at times. I think after I get back from Mexico I'm going to look around and see if there are any work from home set ups here. I know Citibank used to be big on that and they are based incorporated here, so good chance. There is a good setup for a home office downstairs. Seems like MC is enjoying his entry back into the workforce.

Agreed on the lights and migraines. Sometimes I get dressed and do my makeup and everything, I feel like a slob if I don't, other times I figure, eh, fuck it. Though there is of course more "pressure" on a female to always look appealing/presentable, even outside the work place.

I can probably count the times I have put on makeup(except lip gloss) in the last 6 months on one hand. Obviously I don't care at home and/or for the gym. I think I look better with minimal makeup anyway. Of course as I get older that will be less and less likely.

I used to show up at school an hour early to play this sadistic game that mostly involved chucking a tennis ball at a wall. That must have been, like, 7 in the morning. Unfathomable, now.

Does that game have a name? We would play it all the time too. We called it balle au mur (ball to the wall?)

Wish I could still convince a bunch of buddies to loiter in a school yard and play some balle au mur. Good times.

Oh, excellent. I've had this discussion with many people, and I recently found one from Michigan who called it the same thing that we called it, which was butts up.

Most people were at least familiar with some form of the game.

Our game went like this. Chuck the ball hard at the wall. If the ball is coming near you, try to catch it. If it touches you and you don't field it cleanly and it hits the ground, run like hell to the wall. If someone pegs you with the ball before you make it to the wall, you have a strike.

Three strikes and you have to assume the position at the wall and everyone chucks the ball at you once.

we had slightly different rules, and we played some variations

most of the time we just played with the 3-strike rule, and there was no running to the wall to save yourself

you drop it 3 times, you're out

we also allowed throws that hit the ground first, then the wall - you either threw it to the ground and someone had to catch it after the ball bounced on the wall, or vice versa (throw it on wall, wait for first bounce to the ground, catch)
