How can a Manhattan be too sweet? It's just booze mixed with more fucking booze. Something like a rusty nail.

Don't get all technical and shit with me

I'm just sayin that a good bourbon neat, on the rocks or dunked in coke or ginger ale will always be better than a faggy Manhattan.

I like the Dark Rum just straight with a bit of ice.

I like aged rum.

I pretty much like anything that has spent time in an oak barrel.

Jim Beam was bought by a Japanese company. Didn't see that coming.

Per recommendation of the liquor store guy. This stuff is cheap and gloriously decent:

About $20.

Don't think I've ever seen a single malt for that little. I'll have to pick some up if I see it. No risk, really; at that price, I wouldn't feel bad using it for mixing if I didn't like it.

Ardmore makes one in that price range. It's a really young, crisp and lightly peated scotch. 25 dollorz in Ontario, which is by far the cheapest single malt here.

It's pretty good.

I've had a bottle of Elijah Craig sitting around now for quite some time. I bought it because it was the cheapest bourbon they had.

Just got into scotch

Really like the Balvenie 17 year but the 12 year is respectable

Drinking JD Single Barrel in the rocks RIGHT NOW

Melted ice opens up the whiskey imowally

Also, I agree that neat can be the way to go sometimes

But not in Amazon climates like where I'm living

Splash of cold water instead of ice

Glenfarclas 105 (60% abv) with 2-3 splashes of water tonight

New addition at #21, George Dickel Rye. It's aight. It's very young and surprisingly fruity. Supposed to be a mash made of 95% rye, but it tastes closer to a bourbon than a straight rye.

Knob Creek's Rye is vastly superior.

Edit - another bottle I forgot to add a while back, Old Charter 10yo. Great aged bourbon and a fantastic value when it's available. Big and round like Elijah Craig, but the lower ABV makes it more approachable. I safely insterted it at #16 but it could gain a handful of spots after a retaste.

Gentleman Jack really surprised me. Cough syrup compare to single barrel but you pay more.

Banana taste is too strong in Gentleman Jack, IMO. I think it's perfectly dosed in JDSB.
