What would you do (World Cup ticket prices related)?

Ive been monitoring the last 24 hours. Its actually risen by about 2.5% but with very few tickets transacting. Thats normal. Usually prices rise until closer to the event and then they fall of a cliff. Volume of listings is VERY thin, which could make them behave differently. I dunno.
I’ve only been watching StubHub. Do you suggest any other 3rd parties?

In reference to Volume, I noticed that for USA/Turkey it does say something like “Only 5% of tickets remaining” yada yada like some other events.

How did you determine that volume is very thin for this particular event? You know way more about this stuff than I do.

I really appreciate you chiming in.

Also, you know how they say it’s better to book flight on like Tuesday or Wednesday, are there days that are better to purchase 3rd party tickets?

The game starts at 7PM Pacific.

I want to arrive to join the tailgate party at 3PM the latest.

So I should be good jumping in a Lyft at the hotel at 1:30 PM? Thanks, Dave.

I’m also a little concerned about getting a Lyft after the match ends. Should be a madhouse but I’ll just have to embrace the mini-suck of that.
1:30p should be fine, about an 45m-1h to get near the stadium and then whatever the scene looks like then. I'd imagine at that time it wouldn't be so chaotic you couldn't get to the tailgate.

What are your plans for the morning and afternoon before getting the Lyft?

I'm looking at seatgeek just because I have it. I think I'd only trust Stubhub, seatgeek or Tickpick. There's no guarantee that you get your tickets (only that you don't also lose your $$). Those sites have good money back policies.

It looks like most listings say "delivery by X date by WC26 App." I don't know how that app will operate but im sure it's secure. Do you have that app and you're ready to receive tix? Does the app have a built in marketplace like ticketmaster? I bet there will be a flood of listing once people get their tickets in the app (a day or two before the match).

For volume I'm just looking at the total listings - around 500 for a 70k seat venue vs around 1200 for Yanks/Sox tonight at the Stadium (45k seats).

I talk a big game that id risk it. Obviously you gotta do what you gotta do to make the memories with the boys. Maybe ask them what they want to do? You guys wanna risk it and maybe get better seats (or skunked) or pull the trigger now?

We don’t have any plans yet and that was going to be my next question for you.

I was REALLY hoping the Dodgers would be in town but NOPE. We don’t leave until Saturday so we have a whole free day on Friday. The Angels are in town but we aren’t super pumped about that.,

Any suggestions on what do do while in LA? I haven’t been to LA in 5 years and my sons have never been.

We arrive at noon on Wednesday the 24th so we should have roughly a half day on Wednesday, 3 or so hours before we leave for SoFi on Thursday and all day Friday.

I wonder if I’m making a mistake not renting a car.

This is what ChatGPT says I should do with our free time (obviously I’d keave out SoFi as we are going there on the 25th

bite the bullet and buy the tickets now, you won't get better prices

just 5k fuck it - enjoy your time with your sons, it will be wild
Went with this advice. Smart man.

Thank you @roguejuror @Boner_18 and @Vegas Dave

I just pulled the trigger. Took me a few days to commit because it’s 4x more than I’ve payed for any other event BUT ITS THE FOKKEN WORLD CUP AND THE USA!

Even though we are in the nosebleeds at least we’re sitting midfield!

Let’s go BABY!!

So unfortunately LA kind of sucks in regards to one-size-fits-all "stuff to do", as the downtown area and Hollywood where lots of the touristy things are are super trash and overrun with homeless.

If museums interest you or the kids at all, there are, there are a bunch of noteworthy ones. But ChatGPT actually has the right idea in sticking to the beaches.

That Terranea area really is nice, if you just want to enjoy some outdoor beach vibes. But for a more unique "LA" feel, I'd do Manhattan + Hermosa Beach one day and Venice Beach another.

Manhattan pier and Hermosa pier ("The Strand") are easy to walk end to end, lots of locals do it (my wife and I included). Super expensive houses on one side, great beach on the other. Then on the way back, you could walk the non beach way (Ocean Drive), lots of local shops, bars, etc. Tons of cool places to eat at Manhattan Beach Pier.

Venice Beach is just crazy. Muscle Beach, Santa Monica Pier... more touristy and trashy than the Strand, but fun for people watching and a unique experience. Then the same day you do Venice Beach, since thats the only time you'll be that far North, head east and check out Griffith Observatory. Probably the one cool tourist spot thats actually really nice, amazing views of the city. Optimal strategy is to get there early evening so you can see the views day and night.

Venice Beach to Griffith Observatory passes by Westwood (UCLA college town), Beverly Hills (fancy homes, Rodeo Drive), The Grove (nice big outdoor shopping spot and Farmers Market), Hollywood (not my favorite, but iconic).

Day of the game I'd honestly leave for the stadium a bit earlier than 1:30. Why not? Soak in the vibes and activities longer, no stress on timing. Could even go across the street to Hollywood Park and degen a bit 😂. That'd be a good day to grab Original Pancake House if you are breakfast people or In N Out for early lunch if you aren't (gotta try a double double grilled onion In N Out while you are here) and then head over at noonish or so.

SOLID RECS.

I think I’ll do Manhattan and Hermosa one day and Venice another. The Strand sounds fun. Griffith Observatory, too. I won’t go near Hollywood. I was there 5 years ago. WeHo was cool.

In and Out is automatic.

This would be the dream trip if the Dodgers were at home. We’ve been talking about doing Dodger Stadium for so long. Some other time.

Thanks, Dave!
