Hate to say it, but from a marketing standpoint, Gamelive needs a "Dad".

Most mornings I check out the Sportsbook/Industry forum at SBR. Today I had a little browse around the rest of the site. Good gawd it's pathetic. Bickering, spoiled kids, weak shtick, airheads.

People negotiating interest rates on loans worth $1.82. People upset because they loaned 4 dollars worth of points to an internet stranger and they didn't get paid back. There is a tax on transferring points between posters and there is lengthy discussion of how this will work with fractions of a point. FRACTIONS OF A POINT!

I would understand if the powers-that-be at gamelive decide they want to go in a more commercial direction but to my way of thinking, SBR is a model of what NOT to do.

I agree with your assessment of what they've become, Muddy. More than anything, I'm curious to know if after almost a year of the points program, John and Bill still think it was a good idea. I don't know if it's driving sign-ups like they expected, it has to be costing a pretty penny with the way store prices continue to inflate, and it has completely destroyed any quality they had in their forums.

Anybody want to make a side bet on how long it takes Shannon to come in this thread and tell us that John and Bill are tickled pink with the points program? I had a lot more respect for that guy before he started going from forum to forum trying to salvage the reputation of those two scumbags.
 
I saw John finally admit that mySBR was a epic failure that needed to be put down or sold off, I think it was in the CEO for a day thread. The best part was that he even admitted that it would be a bitter pill for Bill to swallow. Lord knows he had enough time to reinvent it since August '08, but I think he knew after the first few months that it would never go anywhere, so better to distract John with starting a points program which now has to be giving him the same fits.

I just checked mySBR out and unless I'm very much mistaken, it's just a glorified version of the vBulletin "view profile" button.
