What dont you get? Rape in the US is 5-25 years. The average is closer to the low end, the 25yrs is reserved for repeat offenders or other aggressivating circumstances (rape and murder, minor victim, etc). Without knowing more about the case this seems about right.

Should it be more? I dunno. Maybe.

I mean, I think most first degree rape convictions in the US result in less than 5 total years behind bars (probably closer to 4). Rape is a huge category. Multiple perps involved is definitely an aggravating circumstance but also might allow some or all of them to get out of some responsibility (point at each other as the ring leader).
