Open cop hunting season appears to be existing everywhere! I mean we can't just tell these people they need to take a "timeout" like the progressive parents for years now have told us in regard to disciplining a child? No physical smacking allowed, regardless of how minor! Lot of bad/lack of parenting has been going on for too long and not just in the disciplining area!

So say the liberal, big cities and maybe beyond that into suburbia get rid of the police as presently structured, are we made to believe normalcy will been attained without any kind of deterrent other than talk? What are doing there? Please cease what you are doing? If not I will tell your parents! Wait a minute, you old enough to be a parent! :yikes:

if these protesters are serious about effecting change, they need to organize and get elected to their local city councils, then their state congress, then to the federal level and stop effecting all of the policy that apparently allows this horrible system to continue. standing around hollering, smoking pot in city parks and pissing/shitting behind the bushes ain't gonna' accomplish a damn thing.

They should do it everywhere. I mean I'm worried somebody's gonna enlist the hell's angels or whatever to wipe em out but maybe not :dunno:

Autonomous Zones are wonderful when made up of folks who love music, poetry, chalk drawings, mindfulness and spirituality. :greencheck:

I say keep that one going.

But what should be done if/when Autonomous Zones are comprised of arsonists, burglars and vandals? Because I actually don’t think it’s an if. It’s likely a when.
 
I'm of the opinion that the majority of arson, burglary, and vandalism arise from a lack of opportunity and a mutually combative relationship with law enforcement partially driven by straight up harassment over laws that should not exist or should not be enforced. You get a couple of arrests for these laws and your limited opportunities become virtually no opportunities. Of course you are going to have those things.

No one serious is talking about a complete lack of accountability. What they're talking about is starting over. Take a lot of that law enforcement money and use it to give people an opportunity to stay out of the legal and incarceration system.

Not that I believe that it's that simple. It's a monster systemic problem. Hard to know where to even begin. But if a community with this kind of relationship with law enforcement wants to start from scratch, in my mind that's a way better idea than any kind of "reform" has ever worked for them.

Then other peaceful protesters begin smashing out the windows of an unmarked police car attempting to leave the area.

The first thing that comes to mind is a nanny state law like marijuana being classified as a Schedule I narcotic. Yeah, that shit totally divides the people and those hired to protect life and property. And the list goes on.

However, not nearly everyone who wants change has a thoughtful, measured Mr. X outlook on how we can achieve that change.

There are thousands and thousands of Americans who simply want to tell cops to fuck off and burn shit because they’re still angry that they got a ticket for driving 35 MPH over the speed limit 5 years ago or they did 25 months in prison for being a co-conspirator on a multi-kilo heroin deal.

There’s the Mr.X’s and Matty’s of the world and then there are people who want zero accountability for the shady shit they do and what better way to do it then attempt to tarnish all credibility of the accountability enforcers.

I think it'd be great if we dispense with the "peaceful protesters" thing. It's pretty silly to drive people to this point of anger and then not expect some violence and property damage. We've seen some peaceful protests broken up with force, and we've seen violent riots let run amok. This is a huge movement and it's going to have the whole gamut.

Besides, violence and property damage is what works in this country. True non-violence worked once upon a very specific time against the English. Doubt it ever really works on Americans. We need a certain amount of lashing out to take anyone seriously, and we definitely need a pretty high level of mayhem to get the kind of media cycle that changes the discussion.

Also, I'm not saying the cops are acting badly in this situation. For the most part they are probably just as much cogs in a broken system.
