I always have (more out of ignorance than anything else,) but Mr. X informed me that there is no need to unless you feel particularly inclined. He suggested I ask the person who brings it if the service charge is actually paid to them. Sounds reasonable. Last night the girl did no set up..just rolled the cart in the room....said "the steak's underneath" lol. I had to pull out two seriously hot plates from the warmer myself and set it up. The bill was probably $40 so %8 on top of that for service charge. I added $6.00 (random number I came up with) on top of that. At the time, I had no idea she was going to just walk out the door with no set up.
Assuming good service, do you tip on top of the added %20 put on by the hotel? I was going to compare it to pizza delivery guy, but there is no real delivery here...down the hall or so and wheeling in the cart. If the %20 goes to her/him, I am not inclined to tip anything additional.
