Once I sent an email newsletter titled "Grandma died... again?" and I got pelted with insults 'cause people thought that the leading Canadian job board was actually telling them that their Grandma had just passed away. Again.

That newsletter got good numbers.

I guess the bigger question is, why don't they just program whatever you are clicking in the first place to go where that don't-want-to-wait link ends up? Just go straight there, no questions asked.

What is the point of having a slower route?

What's the point of having stairs in a high rise when there are elevators? Redundancy.

I use the stairs because they are more exercise and often faster. Plus there are regs relating to safety and power outages and whatnot.

I can see you're trying hard there but I'm afraid it's not much of an analogy.

Another thing about my dad: when referring to natives of Italy, he calls them eye-talians. Always eye-talians.

That's a weird one. In these days of political correctness and hypersensitivity, it feels like that should be wrong. When he says it, I sort of want to check all around, hoping no one heard him.

But I dunno. Eye-talians?

I am not aware of anyone actually being offended by that, but it just seems like someone probably is.
