There's very little courage involved in coming out during this era of gay-chic, especially when you're a borderline-bench-player no one's ever heard of.

I didn't say his move wasn't calculated and probably executed to give his career a last boost, I just said his timing was excellent.

I find this particular line of cynicism too easy. It can be tossed like a net over anything. Nothing can be done for the right reason because there is always the possibility of self-interest.

Name an admired name from history and I'll present the case how there was self-interest in their actions. Easy.


I admire Collins regardless. If there is financial self-interest, it just makes him smart as well as courageous in my book. It is not a riskless gamble he is taking. Gay-chic is a cute term but there is a huge number of people who are not on board with it.

I don't know exactly what is in the guy's head. I don't even want to speculate because I believe I hold the world record for the most internet mindreading battles lost. But as far as his words, he said some good stuff there that I could see being of comfort and inspiration to some peeps.



As I say, not Jackie Robinson - but good.
