So been looking to get back into shape for a few months now (gotta lay off those 23000+ calorie KFC Family Dinners) and think i may have just stumbled across a bargain.

After debating between buying new and used the justification simply was unable to be made for new as not willing to fork out 6k+ for something i wouldnt ride everyday.

Area around these parts is rather flat so wouldnt be seeing much hill climbing etc...

Anyway, this is it...

(Apologees for small pic. Click to enlarge) The bike is a 2008 Turner 5 Spot (size XL) customised from the frame up. Wheels have Onyx hubs with WTB rims, easton stem and bar with a chris king headset. Guy says the frame is in excellent condition.

The forks are Fox vanilla 125 RLC's with cosmetic damage.

Only issue of significant note is that the right stancion does have some damage that is allowing oil to bypass seals. Can still be used but will need attention sooner rather than later..

rear shock will need air after in a couple months also but other than that the says its is in almost perfect condition.

XT running gear with deore shifters and brakes are Julie's.

Anyway, ive read nothing but good things about this brand of bike and wondering what ppl would pay for a bike of this description??

Many thanks in advance guys. Ur input and feedback is appreciated...

if you arent going to hammer the mountain trails a few times a week and ride most days, there is no need for anything top of the line, new or used :donthinkso: ... something that costs maybe 250-400 bucks will get the job done... others might disagree, but unless you are in competitions and race pro or some shit, overpriced mountain bikes are a hugh waste of money

Agree. Made the mistake of spending 10k on a bike in the past only to get stolen...

Willing to pay a little more for this as suspect its quality (least from all the online reviews)...

Could pick it up for under 1k as is..

Looks like a decent ride Xpansive! Sounds like it has some higher end parts on it. If you go to buy it, make sure that you take a really good look at the frame for cracks. Especially around the handlebar area and bottom bracket area. It's not likely that there is any frame damage but it'd really suck if there was and you didn't see it before it was too late. Less than 1k for it sounds good. How tall are you? I'm 6' tall and I ride a 19-19.5" frame. Good luck with your purchase.

Any bike that you tend to ride a lot is a good bike...some people like riding pieces of junk;I do like to ride retro bikes sometimes; I have a couple 80's and 90s - 12 speeds.
I commute most of the time on a Kona single speed bike.
The deal with expensive bikes is that they are usually super light and never break down. If you have a +2k bicycle, I suggest that you buy a $100-$300 clunker for trips to the store.

I've been in the boonies for the last three weeks putting a new roof and porch on my house....Construction is a lot of work...I've lost like 7lbs without even trying.

Get a motorcycle instead. Bicycle is too slow and dangerous.
:lmao: The object here is to get fit and lose those winter pounds around the gut....

Plus, i live in a small rural town comprising of 550 people. Only way i can see this being not safe is through my own stupidity...

Do not buy a bike that costs $250

It will weigh a TON and you'll want to get rid of it in a month

You should live in the $500-$750 range

Get some
Oh yeah...Made that mistake in the past (Plastic Hubs anyone???). Thanks for the input Mr Daffy...
We're getting this commuter bike this weekend. http://www.sweetpetes.com/images/library/Zoom/kna_drgood_12_z.jpg

We're also considering the lower-end Kona Dew, which our brother recommended. http://konaworld.com/images/bikes/med/dew.jpg
We like Konas 'cause the hipsters don't approve.
Dew looks solid but 1st link didnt work. Have heard that Konas can be quite heavy but solid build...

:lmao: Yeah ive lost 7 pounds in last 2 weeks simply by cutting sugar in diet right down. Amazing how the body reacts when we're not pumping it full of the not so good stuff...

Thanks for the advice. Have been extra careful to make sure there are no cracks on this baby. From what i understand Turner will offer you $600 towards a new frame if yours is cracked. These guys stand by the quality of their builds. I am 6'3 btw..

Couple of mates have retro bikes. Good for getting around town in and look quite 'psychadelic' ;-)

Bike will mostly be used for flat enduro with some declines/inclines.

Gonna try and not pay anymore than $900 as is as gonna have to spend around 3-4 hundred to get this bike up to scratch.

Thanks for the input everyone and happy riding...

I know where he lives. He posted a picture with his sandwich truck once.

How is the sandwich business doing xpansive? Do you plan to ride the new bicycle to the sandwich truck?
Sandwich truck :lmao:

Its burgers pal, gourmet US style.

Had a Boston native try our product couple weeks bak and said it was best burger he ever had, saying that the standards of food trucks have dropped in the US.

We simply try to give people a taste of what you'd find in a high end restaurant but at a reasonable price.

Riding to work and back would be a 100 mile trip. I'd be a retard to even attempt that...
