I often overhear some amusing conversations when I'm in the casinos. This is my diary.

Today at a video poker bank...

Man: "I wouldn't be over here if the dealer didn't beat my 20 with 21 four times."

Woman: "I hate that. Especially when its like 6 cards... I don't get mad at the dealer. I get mad at the situation."

Man: "Exactly."


Well said, lady. At least you don't get mad at the dealer. Very dignified of you. Why not get mad at yourself for expecting positive variance in a -EV game instead?

better to get mad at the dealer. fuck the dealer. It would be so much more enticing to work on beating table games (and poker) if it wasn't for the annoying dealers and other gamblers.

There are slot machines now that have the spin button which hangs on a chord on a hard plastic base. That is you can hold the spin button in your hand and lean back without having to touch the machine.

I only bring this up to point out that in my anger I've taken to smacking the machine hard with that handle. Amazingly, I haven't broken anything yet. Thankfully both the slot machine and the detached handle are surprisingly sturdy.
Anyway, fuck slots too. I need to get back to my handicapping roots.
 
Not an overheard conversation, but there was a Ford Fusion in the parking garage with the personalized plate: AMAZN.

It had me wondering if it meant "amazing" or "amazon."

I didn't wait to get a peek at the owner and find out. I guess it will always be a mystery.
 
Yeah Wally, I'm bound to cost myself a fortune with that behavior. I only ever got 86'd from one casino 10 years ago and it's costing me to this day.
Do you have something you say to yourself when your blood starts boiling? "pins and needles, needles and pins etc." Was that from the Jeffersons?
 
True story:

Back in the day when Casino Rama first opened up north of Toronto I went up to play some blackjack.

This was the first week they were open and dealers were very green. Dealers were slow and shuffles took very long but there was one little advantage we had with a specific new dealer. If you hit say a 15 and got a 7 and celebrated like it was a 21 she got distracted and paid off the bust as a win. Me and the guy next to me figured this out and had a fun and profitable few hours on her shift.

That was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I can still remember those hands where I'd bust with an 8 hitting my 14 and celebrating "WOOO HOOO 21!!!!" and she'd go on to the next player thinking my 22 was 21.

Good times.

Either Baltimore will get another score or Houston will win the game outright". - Clueless California "tourist" at GVR during the 2H of the Texans - Ravens game

"Oh I live here. It's only $30 a night. However I go elsewhere for Friday and Saturday Night. I'm comfortable at a place like this. The Wynn (Sportsbook) is too ritzy for me. However I really don't like that they raised the minimum wager to $10" - African American at LVH
