How funny. I lived there for about 7 months - well actually there and Arroyo Grande - 8 years ago. Had a bit of a fling with a guy who was a bartender at the big steak restaurant next to a hotel in AG and always hung out at some college bar in SLO. I thought the name had something to do with pigs but I'm having a hard time finding it on Google right now. The place stunk like Tabasco sauce and vomit.

I was there for St Patty's day and everyone met at some other bar where they let you in really early in the morning. Full of old drunks. But everyone kind of paraded around until this other piggy bar opened.

There was a good sandwich place in SLO on a side street - inside a convenience store I think, with outdoor seating. Still have a dress from a shop there too. :)

Oh, and there was a casino a drivable distance away. I played blackjack there quite a few times when we had random days off from work during the week.

And a hotel that had gaudy rooms on the main highway. I don't know - I never went in but my friends from the area said it was kind of a thing there.

Also there were sulphur spas where you could pay extra for more privacy up the hill. They sold little scented things to try to combat the stench of rotten eggs. And kill the sperm I guess. :dunno:

Trying to think of anything else about my time there but that's all I really remember. That sandwich place was the main stand out.
 
Hah - I just found it. Bull's Bar.

The first review I found: Bull's is a local dive bar that has a reputation for not only a stench of old puke, but also of urine. Because of this reputation, we made Bull's our first stop in SLO. I have been to many bars in my years, and old puke and urine are often key ingredients of good drinking establishments. Add in relatively cheap beers at about $3.50 each and you have a winner.
 
Roguey, it was actually a cool place to get absolutely slaughtered but it stunk like shit. And now I found out why I could remember Tabasco - they have a drink/shot ?? there called Bull's Breath which is apparently what everyone needs to do on their 21st. So people drink that nasty shit and then yak everywhere.

And the bathroom didn't have a door on it before so you could just smell pee and Tabasco puke. But they had these tiles on the ceiling that they'd let certain people write on and you could keep your beer glass there so I think they were on to a good thing as far as securing customer loyalty. Plus they had hot bartenders and poured stiff drinks to the point where my eyes would water at first.

Considering I've never drank with you guys so I'm just taking a punt - I could see you, Breadipoo, Robyn and Fischy enjoying yourselves there. Probably not for the whole night but for an 11am starter and then to end off the night there.
 
I'm ready whenever you are! Looks like CR will be our next destination in the gypsy mobile so at least I'll be close enough to hop over to FL for a drink.

Finished my final (as in 3rd time final) medical this week and some other paperwork bullshit so it seems the Aussie govt is going to give me perm residency and let us leave quietly. Once we get the ok, you'll be one of the first to know. Can't fokken wait.
