Bread and I are thinking about skipping Vegas this year and heading to Chicago at the end of the year. Being from Michigan, I know that winter sucks up north but is winter particularly miserable being that you are right there on the water?

What is the absolute perfect time to visit? I hate heat/humidity and I am not fond of snow. Bread has to plan his vacations at the spoke shop a year in advance so he has some time off in August and in December.

help!

having lived in pittsburgh all my life before chicago....its about the same.... real shitty.

this has been a mild winter though. and i'm real glad we didn't take part in this huge east coast storm. I'd say the perfect time to visit as far as weather would be mid september. It gets real muggy here in the summer, that's for sure. but there are tons of fun stuff going on in the summer to make up for it.

Christmas time is one of my favorite times in Chicago though.. I hate the cold and snow as much as anybody, but I just love the atmosphere down town during Christmas, I try to skate 3 or 4 times during December down at Millenium Park

I was thinking that I would prefer going in December, too. Even though I get really anxious when frozen gusts of wind hit my face. But I would rather be cold than deal with humidity. And I am sure it is awesome there with all of the Christmas decorations.

Would Big Al be opposed to meeting non-people if we were to visit Chicago? Which hotel do you recommend?

she's changed her views from the lame non people declaration.

hell she and some of my friends were even prepared to meet up with Casper at the horseshoe casino last year. He never made it here though

I know nothing of the hotels really, you'll get much better info in 5 mins of internet research... I've had friends stay at the congress plaza (great location, old hotel), the Drake, and the omni? I think as long as you stay near the magnificent mile on michigan you can't go wrong

i really really reallly want to go to chicago. cooler the weather the better, but not important.

i have a new infatuation with bar hopping in unfamiliar downtowns. i really like doing it.

i think Chicago could be my mecca.

I like neighborhood bars better. Downtown is not really the place for bars. the place with the most bars all close together is obviously wrigleyville on the north side over by wrigley field... many of those places are annoying, but there are good ones too.

I guess the best area nearest downtown for bars is across the river to the north side between Carroll and chicago ave. about 8 blocks worth of bars. I don't go down there much anymore, but one of my old favorites was howl at the moon.

one of my old favs, but I heard it was shut down would have been perfect for ya bread

it was called the twisted spoke, it was kinda a new age biker bar, and on weekends after midnight they showed hard core porn throughout the bar

archie that place sounded amazing.

archie i want to go to bars where big burly dudes welcome you in and put their arm around you and spill draft beer on you while they sing along with the jukebox.

i think you know what im talkin about.
