are kinda gross.
They don't necessarily taste bad but they have an unsettling texture to them that only gets worse the more ripe they get.
Bananas are a good source of potassium. I eat bananas almost every day. As soon as I am on my last banana, it goes right on the shopping list: "bananas". Because I go to the grocery store basically every day, I only run out of bananas under extremely unusual circumstances.
My fixation on bananas goes back to one time I was rushed to emergency with an OD. They did blood tests and it turned out I had no potassium in my system. I don't know what happened to all my potassium but the tests don't lie. I remember they had me drinking little cups of concentrated potassium. Ever since then I have been acutely aware of potassium and so I eat bananas.
Bananas have other healthy stuff in them besides potassium but I am mainly interested in the potassium
Getting back to the main point though, they can be kinda gross. I just ate a banana which was very ripe and it was like a mouthful of mushy pablum. It made me think, this would probably be excellent for a 102 year-old with rotten teeth but I am a robust 47 with strong teeth capable of many things. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to swallow the chewed up mushy banana at one point. But I did. I need that potassium.
That is all I have to say about bananas right now.
