^And to be clear, this isn't an indictment of Trump. Even if we assume rumors are true that the White House got involved and "asked" for this, it can't be the first and won't be the last time someone in power asked for (or bribed for or whatever happened behind closed doors) special treatment. This is 100% on FIFA.

Flo has been my favorite player for US this tourney, stoked to see him again and it was a bullshit red card.

But there are decades of precedent that a red card is a red card and that comes with an automatic next-game suspension.

Opens up a massive can of worms for all controversial red cards moving forward. Has the rest of the world rooting against us and declaring 🦊 (don't blame them, so would I).

Not that I give too much of a shit what the rest of the world thinks, but just sucks for this team as its a likeable group playing great, hate seeing their run tarnished by something off the pitch they had no control over.

The biggest problem I have about the suspension of the Balogun red is that I think they should have rescinded the red completely,

Didn’t FIFA do the same thing for Portugal this WC that they did for Balogun?
