I fucking hate it. Too much fluff. Nothing works the same, which makes work more of a pain in the ass as far as computers are concerned. Nothing works the same, I don't like having to search for stuff when I normally now exactly where it is. I will give it a shot though I must admit I have already started uninstalling some useless crap, but I also am not familiar with it at all, I find a lot of information on the internet, but windows 8 is fairly new yet, so I can't find everything I need yet. It's a learning opportunity I guess, and eventually, as with all technology, windows 7 will eventually be phased out, so I might as well learn it now.

As far as the new hp 2000 notebook, it's not mt favorite either, the keyboard is too loud. The touchpad is all textured and feels funny on my finger tips,I also had to reconfigure it, which isn't a big deal, but still, and god forbid you have to restart...it takes forever. I got so frustrated with this thing today, Steve had to tell me to walk away from it. Another item I have not much of a choice at the moment, other to give it a chance. I had a little HP before that I liked quite well, although that was a windows 7.

Ask me again in a month how I feel.

Ok I have learned how to make adobe work, I had to open a new web window, type about:plugins, and saw that I had to download Firefox 17. I also located my notebook and was able to pin it to my task bar as opposed to my start menu thing :megaman:

If anything, that is the one thing I am not a fan of, is that the start menu is a whole nother screen you have to switch back and forth between with your desktop. Still giving it a chance though, I am slightly more pleased with it now that I am learning how to make it more user friendly. :bee:

Calm down cami, no need to get so stress out. You'll catch up with it in no time, deep down it's not that different.

To start, install CCleaner and manage everything on startup and what's running from there, it makes it real easy. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Good advice. It's amazing how much crap these companies throw on there.

Good to know Rog, thank you.
FW, the whole office used adobe, so work wise, that is what I am limited to.
Spent a good hour this morning fighting with firefox. Finally got that under control, I still have yet to install the drivers and software for my print and scanner. Gonna see if I have the disks anywhere, and if not, then I get it off the net! Ugh, this is getting old....

Another program you will want Cami is FileHippo - it will search for updates for all of your programs and drivers, can download all right from the site. More efficient than having all of your programs running all of the time searching for updates. I run it at startup, only runs for 20-30 secs.

hah! I didn't use to be so into computers, but these days I use them for pretty much everything. I will definitely go through this thread after work and download these things, so if you think of anything else, post it!
Monkey, I leave my door unlocked most of the time. I've also changed my locks too.

So after being on it all day, and super busy at that, I don't mind it so much. It has not been slow or froze up at all.
I usually run two -three browsers at a time, with multiple windows open, like 5 or more PDFs open, and five or more notes open and sometimes the calculator, and so sometimes the computers end up running slow, so far, not this one. I think I might like HP just a little bit. Even my small one worked well for me.(before it died):megaman:
