Boner, I would suggest a TaylorMade Super Fast (white version) or a Nike Square head driver. Both drivers are previous year’s models which makes them very inexpensive to buy but they are absolutely great drivers. Any of the drivers in the past 4 years will be very comparable. Sure designs have changed and marketing directed at better better better but they are all relatively the same. The drivers you want to avoid until your game is truly ready for it are Ping I series. The G series are fine but the I series are non-offset and for more advanced players. Also Titleist drivers while somewhat forgiving are still more along advanced players as well.

McBall’s is also correct about shaft strengths (kick points also but don’t wanna get to technical) and how this is important to swing speeds. A slower swing speed and you’ll want a regular shaft but if your swing speed is 100 or higher and you’ll almost certainly need a stiff shaft. The higher swing speeds or the faster the hands release through the impact zone prevents a regular shafted club from being able to catch up. By the same token if you have a slower swing speed and use too stiff of a shaft you will almost certainly hit everything to the right or the big banana ball.

If you plan on buying something new then I suggest going to an Edwin Watt’s or other retailer who has video or at least monitoring equipment to speck you swing speed, spin ratio and other criteria. Plus you will be able to hit plenty of different drivers and get a feel for what feels best. However they will tape the face to prevent damage which will hinder how they all feel. Make sure they smooth out the tape and don’t layer it.
