Wow. I am too I guess. I guess I feel like since that "tip" area is there I feel obligated to fill it in. I gave worthless girl $6.00 today on top of the %20 Glad you told me that.

You can always make sure by asking about the 20% service charge and verifying that it goes to your server. It does, and it's a completely adequate tip, but acknowledging it might make you feel less like you're stiffing them.

Right. I guess it just bothered me that she pretty much wheeled in the cart and said "oh the steak's underneath" lol. I've never had anyone not do a set up. The room is nice. The food has been great, but the staff has been pretty much underwhelming. Oh well, probably be another year before it's an issue anyway. Damn I want some ice cream.

Me, too. At least I have cookies.
Nooooooooooooo. Don't tell me that. ..I am totally craving something sweet. Of course I realized this 10 minutes after room service ended. And I have nothing to cure that craving..except ambien...but I think my obsession with wanting some ice cream/froyo might beat out the ambien and keep me up all night. I wonder if their gift shop is still open. Probably not.

I might have to go back to the tables.

That's an impressive craving. Beating out ambien can be a weird and fun experience sometimes.

Yeah it is but holy hell! I just remembered my room is right next to the vending machines and I had $3 in singles. Went out in my nightie and robe and hooked up with some peanut m&ms. Life is good again. Seriously ...that was really going to bother me. It has been so long since I've been in a hotel, totally forgot about overpriced vending machines! Now I'm thirsty though, and that $3 bottle of bottled water is looking kind of tasty. I brought red bull and starbucks with me, but probably not best option at this hour.

Reno..I can have friend who takes care of my place look and see if I still have those books. I'm sure they are outdated and I don't remember them being OVERLY informational but definitely a good starting point. if I have them I can arrange to get them to you next time I'm in Denver. I think same guy did a couple books Max Rubin.

Thanks for the thought, but I'm well aware of all that stuff. Working the promotional angle has been a significant part of what I do for over a decade. Mostly it entails playing low vig video poker machines.
Playing table games, to my knowledge does not provide the same benefit, especially if you have an over 5.7% vig game such as roulette. I believe casinos are willing to give back up to 50% of expected losses in comp. But that refers to loses not total action. (which is what the 5.7% figure based on)

Fishhead told me about the time when he almost put the Grand Falls casino out of business. Nearly drained the slots for every last drop.

I haven't heard anyone talk about casino comps since 08'.

How much did you end up donating to those Indians, IAG?

I would imagine LV cut back on a lot of comps, or made it harder for the avg player to get those. Slot players usually get the best comps I would imagine. I'm sure the Indian casinos don't have to give the farm away.

Yes, I understand that it is on expected losses and roulette is the most comp friendly table game, as it has the worst odds...so I guess I am not following your logic. That was at least, what I was always told by the dealers/pb/hosts.
. The comps are the only thing that makes me feel better about the money I have left there...and the experiences. I have so many great LV stories. Would never have been able to do some of that stuff without utilizing my card for rating.

I love the guy who comes up and puts one $100 chip on black on the wheel and hands his card to the dealer who knows it's a one shot bet...guy loses it and says "did you get my play?" Boss tells him of course, they aren't rating that. He doesn't understand cuz he just lost $100 on what is essentially a 50/50 bet..walks away mad. Obviously one of those people that think that comps are based on how much you lose

Anyway, friends who play similar to me (SHDW18) f rustrate me when they end up paying for a room especially if they leave dropping a few grand. And the more you utilize your host/comps, the more they seem to come.
If you can avoid the trap of playing to the comps...you don't want to drop $2,000 to get a free room obviously , but if you go in knowing you are getting RFB you can run up several thousand in comps easily. don't know why anyone would not take advantage. I used to go 3-5x a year, but haven't been now in probably close to 5 years. Maybe things have tightened up..I don't know. Always best to have a host who offers stuff up front, but not always possible especially if you are new to a particular casino/chain. More relaxing to know everything is paid for without having to get in your 4 hours a day of play per day. ..but if casino sees you are not playing up to your past play, you will probably not ever get RFB again.

I think also getting markers tends to get closer attention paid to your play. I could be imagining that, but it seems if you have a casino credit account, they consider you "serious."

Anyway, want to understand why you believe the slots/vp have better comp value. They may, I think I have heard that, but I have to understand why. I suppose it is apples vs oranges depending on bet size and which table game. I think you used to have to play $50 for 3 hours daily at BJ for free room at CP...Roulette was probably half that time. I probably played 4x that time daily so that probably explains why I got much more than the room comped.

You go to Laughlin right? Where do you stay? I used to stay at the Hilton Flamingo (now Atlantis?) now THAT Is a town where you get a lot of bang for your buck...or used to be. I'll see what happens here. I'm not going to play heavy today...what happens at the end (and I'm not expecting much) we will see. Maybe there will be a more articulate host here today. I'm not optimistic. Thanks for your input RCOOL

Archie...I told you! If you have time, go to Central City/Blackhawk. It's probably 40-45 minutes from downtown Denver. There are shuttles that go there from places in town if you don't have a car. Beautiful windy road thru the mountains. Old mining towns that have lots of casinos now...google Blackhawk, Colorado....maybe you could get a room there for a night. It's fun. Trip is really pretty I assume right now. You definitely do not want to drive there if you have been drinking...like I said...lots of curvy roads right in the mountains past the Coors Brewing Co in Golden. Other than that, no gambling in Denver proper that I am aware of..other than a few OTBS...https://www.google.com/#q=blackhawk+casino

You may not have time to get there, but it's a nice drive and fun when you get there.
