Canada would be pretty ideal for me Pucky -- I'd actually be able to do my job properly.

Don't think my mom would like that so much, I guess I'll send her some of these bills.

Is your Mom anti-Canadian or she just wants you to be close to home?

Man, as soon as you get landed immigrant status you are good to go. Your daughter would get free dental care until she is 17 or 18, free health care, excellent education system..... no basket weaving courses in Canadian schools or universities. Your wife would also get free health care. Everyone would. I think you should look into it.

My mom once suggest we move to Canada (when we were still in Colombia), since it would be closer to here and I could work without gov't interference. But, now that we are here, probably be a big pain in the ass.

You guys are boggling my mind with all these fees. Seriously.

If you are employed at a large company they will get a good deal with a private insurer and you won't have many out of pocket costs. Self-employed people get fucked. Also if you make very little you can get on the gov't plan, or when you are over 65 you get government coverage.

Obabama care might fix a few things but mostly it does nothing, which is why the idiots putting so much effort into opposing it are so funny.

It basically just takes away the freedom of not paying for some bullshit insurance plan.

You don't have to pay. The non-compliance fee can only be taken out of a tax refund. They can't come after you via any other method. Don't have refunds, don't pay.

And the people complaining aren't ones without coverage, they are brain washed idiots that think Medicare isn't a gov't program.

ah, thats good to know.
to the best that I can figure out, something will be set up in October that will let you choose an insurance. :clueless: but nothing till then. By January you will be required to have insurance.

They did such a poor job presenting to the public what actually is gonna happen. Maybe you can answer.
I assume there are gonna be subsidies for those who can't afford. How will that work? I have to show them proof of income?

They cant deny for preexisting condition. Can they charge more?

Oh really? I thought it was a tax penalty. Good. Fuck 'em then.

I don't know, I looked at the health exchange site and all the plans are exactly the same as what I have now, ie they suck. Only difference is there are more companies to chose from. Apparently if you make under 95k you can get a subsidy.

I don't even know, thats what it says here:

Every time I read something about this shit it says something different.

Here it looks like the cost could be substantial for you (assuming you pay):

The critical illness plan in that first article looks like a good option.

read articles, still confused for the most part.
Is the underlying theory that no one will be refused medicine eventually? And all this crap is to try and defray some cost that the govt is gonna have to cover anyway?
Sounds like you can wait till you get sick and then get insurance, meanwhile pay the smaller penalty. They really need to get the word insurance out of it.

Yes and that's probably a reasonable option for someone that doesn't make too much money. But, once you get up to 5k fines might as well buy some shitty insurance, you have to be able to get it way cheaper than that, mine only costs that much for 3 people.

DETROIT—A 24-year-old Windsor, Ont., man accused of smuggling marijuana into the U.S. by scuba diving has been arraigned in a Marine City, Mich., court.

Jesse James Thomas Zunti is charged with one count of controlled substance, deliver/manufacture marijuana.

Zunti was arrested after a person was spotted in full scuba gear swimming across the St. Clair River from Canada to Marine City early Monday morning.

U.S. border patrol agents met the diver as he was getting out of the river in the Marine City area.

The agents then found a watertight pipe containing about 3.6 kilograms of marijuana tied to a sea wall ladder.

Zunti remains in custody with bail set at $100,000.
