Toronto traffic cop harrassment!

Plommer has been pulled over at least a half dozen times in Toronto the last few months.

Why?

Because his car was registered in Saskatchewan and didn't have a front plate (Saskatchewan only issues and requires a rear plate, Ontario registered vehicles have front and rear plates), this attracts attention late at night when a cop approaches in the opposite direction. They don't see a front plate and become suspicious.

Last time I was pulled over I got a ticket for "Fail to notify change of address".

I requested a trial.

Today I was notified that the charge has been withdrawn.

I Never should have been charged in the first place but the cunt that pulled me over obviously wanted to teach me a lesson.

The reasoning behind the ticket was because the police computer showed that I had been pulled over a few times in the last year in Toronto and they assumed I had a local address. They couldn't prove anything and I guess the court realized this and dropped the charge. The cop didn't believe I traveled back and forth between Ontario & Saskatchewan.

Anyway, this was a good day.
 
sounds like America ...although in America nobody would care about proving anything. Pay your ticket and shut up is the motto. I tried to challenge a ticket before. The courthouse is a disgusting bureaucracy that should be avoided at all cost

Bottom line for me is that employers want to see a commercial vehicle drivers abstract if they are going to employ me as a driver.

In Ontario where auto insurance is privately run I will have problems with tickets showing up, doesn't matter if its for not wearing a seatbelt or expired permit etc. When the cops give me a bullshit ticket it can affect my employment, if it was just a matter of paying it and it going away that would be fine but the system records everything and its used against you.

In Saskatchewan and the government run system the only offences that hurt your premiums are offences with demerit points, this means that employers are not concerned with tickets as long as they are minor offences like speeding (a few km's over the limit) etc.

After experiencing both systems of insurance I much prefer government run auto insurance like in Saskatchewan.

Also, Ontario has many speed traps compared to the prairie provinces. I've never been stopped in Saskatchewan or Manitoba, only Ontario. The Ontario system is just another way of collecting tax and allowing the insurance companies to raise premiums without justification.

In my entire life I have NEVER been involved in an accident where i was at fault. Of the 2 accidents I've been involved in one was a drunk driver that sideswiped me in my Honda years ago and the other I was cutoff by a large truck that took out the passenger side of my car.

I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles/kilometres in trucks, buses, and cars in almost every US state and Canadian province.

Most of my US trips were on Interstate 75 from Michigan to Florida.

Also put alot of miles on the NY State Thruway to/from Boston and NYC.
 
I remember one trip I drove to Vegas and stayed a month at the Imperial Palace.

On my way down I had just crossed into Colorado from Nebraska and was pulled over by a State Trooper.

I wasn't speeding, and never got a ticket but the cop inspected my car to make sure the VIN numbers all matched.

After being satisfied my 94 Taurus wasn't stolen he sent me on my way.

PS: My entire 1 month Vegas trip cost me $2500. That was for gas, food, room, gambling.
I had a nice run betting hockey at the Imperial Palace and Caesars.
 
IP used to be one of the best books in town. It's probably the last major casino hotel that has balconies :up:

Utah loves to pull me over and search car for no reason. I recently started flying, getting too old, unmotivated for road adventure
 
Last time I was in Vegas the Rio was the newest hotel.

Don't miss Vegas, had fun the half dozen times I went and am over it.

Vegas has zero appeal for me nowadays.

I think I'd much rather spend time in Italy or France.
