Brady wants to win. I guess he figures he is secure enough financially - (I have no reason to doubt that) - and he wants the team to be able to afford more good players so he is taking way under market value.

Fokken revolutionary. I never disliked Tom Brady - but I didn't like him either.

But now I like him.

Boys, Tawm Brady is 35 YOA

Do you realize how much a QB's skills begin to diminish when they hit 36?

See Joe Montana.

It's a great contract (money wise) for Tawm.

It's a great contract big-picture-wise IMO. He is showing remarkable and rare thoughtfulness in going that way. But strictly money-wise? He could have got 20 million per season.

But contracts are usually an individual sport and guys - Brett Favre would be a good example - will just whore himself to the highest bidder without considering that they can no longer pay for good linemen to protect him. He has more money than he can spend in his lifetime but he only thinks about more money.

And of course it's not just Favre. It's basically everyone.

That's why I find this so refreshing. I find it intelligent. Spiritual even. It's a statement about the true roots of happiness.

I can't help but wonder if Brady and the owner Kraft have an unwritten wink-and-a-nod agreement about how he will recoup every penny of the funds he is being underpayed now after his playing career - and maybe this extension never happens without that - and therefore I would be giving Brady too much credit for philosophical depth - but I don't know that so I am sticking with my story.

Brady is in the process of buying some land in Brookline, a suburb of Boston, from Pine Manor college, but the college cant sell the land to Brady without getting permission from the abutters, one of the abutters is Kraft, so Kraft helps Brady get this land in exchange for a cheaper contract.

6th round pick for Boldin though. I get the salary cap issues but I still would have thought they could get something more than that from someone. No one would cough up even a 4th rounder for just about the best pair of hands out there?

Guess not.
