Impossible to answer without getting personal against people, most of whom are good people. There is just an inability to pick up on - or in some cases a loss of memory of - what gamelive is and what it is not. Talking about the personality and character of the place. The customs and culture.

Gamelive is being obscured behind a wall of very loud, ungamelivish noise.

I don't know that there's anything much to do about it. Do I post a manifesto? Would anyone be influenced or even understand? Doubtful. Perhaps the actual gamelive people that do care about the traditional culture and enjoy that kind of forum - will once again have to break off and start our own forum. I could see the day. That would be kind of funny.

It'd be good to know what shape such a forum could take these days. I almost feel that a large part of what was keeping the forum strong was our feeling that we were rebels united. Sbr would occasionally lob a turd our way that we enjoyed dismembering. Then we were gifted Papa G, and Casper. After all that ended we kinda turned on each other. :dunno:
Found we didn't have too much things to say to each other after a while.
Broke in Cali. .....now we got SPers who are mostly nice (except the guy who pisses all over the place) but so completely opposite of what GL was about

I think everyone is taking everything way too seriously

This is the internet

This is a message board

Not sure what else needs to be said

Could not have asked for a more perfect illustration of what I was saying about not getting it.

It's like that American stereotype. American walks into a place and has no innate ability to pick up on the customs and culture of his/her surroundings so automatically defaults to making it America which involves a lot of loud talking about his/her lawn, the weather, food, minor aches and pains. perhaps some extended ignorant palaver about financial markets and vitamins/vitamin supplements.

Not that it is just Americans in the case of gamelive but the example is so perfect.

No, you immense boob. Many of us had all but forgotten about SBR within 3 and a half minutes. There was no sense of being a rebel against SBR, except maybe against people who kept babbling about SBR. Which, okay, was quite a few people for quite awhile.

But the greater gamelive character was only anti-SBR in that it was anti-stupid, anti-cliche, anti-blandness, anti-inane. SBR was only one tiny thing within a million things that falls into that.

But there is much more. There is a greater counter-culture umbrella.

Don't make me come over there.

Today is 3/27/2014

3 + 27 + 2014 = 2044 = 2 + 0 + 4 + 4 = 10!

10 is a great number for giving perfect examples. Bo Derek was a 10.

Note: The above numerology doesn't work everyday, as we all know that would be impossible. But it does work today.

So you disagree and then basically repeat what I say. genius. If you think a lot of the culture here wasn't about kissing each others ass, acting cool, and clever ways of making fun of others then you weren't paying attention then as you aren't know.
Obviously, it wasn't all about showing off and the feeling of superiority but that's what kept posters united. Strength of the forum was never about "inane" observations on potato chips or woodpeckers or whatever.

I don't act cool, I just am.
