I posted this and realized we need a thread:


'I hate scouring for a shirt to wear then noticing it smells like smoke and is too yucky to wear.'


How many times can you wear clothing before washing? Hours? Days?

I recall years ago washing brand new clothing hours after wearing. It faded quick and was unnecessary.

I changed my ways. Wear things multiple times now.

How do you do it?
 
Well lemme see . . .

A day shirt is only one use for me then into the basket. Period.

I have some comfy shirts that I put on in the evenings with super comfy pants for general lummoxing about. They generally go on immediately after a shower and can go for 2 or 3 evenings.

Then I have two over-sweaters that I wear at work during the winter. I take them off and on thru the day. They can actually go a couple weeks. That seems strange as I sit here typing it - sounds gross and like not enough warshing - but what can I say? They usually don't particularly smell even when I launder them.

I don't deal with smoke smell. No smoke in my life at all.

Work pants are also 2 weeks rotation. I stagger them laundry-wise with those sweaters.




I don't own anything I care about fading or whatever. Jenny is all over that kind of factor. I just dry my close on high for the full hour cycle. She uses low cycles and will keep checking them so as not to leave them in there a minute longer than necessary. She has nice clothes. I do not.
 
I also have huge super deluxe bath towels. They are on a two week rotation.

Part of my big-picture thinking is doing as little laundry as possible since I have to pay. I don't know if that is mainly a cheapskate issue or just that I have to pay with specific change so I don't feel like stocking up on change any more than I have to.

Point being, I think I am going to start pulling my huge towels and those heavy sweaters out after the wash cycle and hang dry them. I keep ending up with slightly not-dry laundry, and it's either just ignore the fact and fold anyway, or else pay for another dryer cycle. But I'm sure if I remove those monsters from the equation, there will be joy.


Just gotta remember.
 
Socks and undergarments you have to wash every time imo.

T-shirts maybe twice. Jeans wash whenever, sweatshirts maybe a few wears imo.

Still haven't completely figured out panties or tampons so I just leave them on.
 
As for bedding, I am reminded of a scene from the show Dream On where the dad is having a little freak out about his son's contribution to the housekeeping and he says, "And what about your bedding? How often do you launder your bedding?"

The son says, "I have never washed it. I thought you did."


I wash mine a bit more often than that.

Probably won't happen to anyone tonight but if it does and some gets on shirt, don't bother washing it and simply throw it away!*

*If going to a St Patty's party, do trashy with your attire! No one goes to these parties without drinking heavily being the #1 priority!
 
The wife and I tend to put off laundry day, which means I always end up grabbing a "dirty" shirt from the hamper to put it in the dryer for 5 minutes, so it's usable again.

If I catch the woman doing laundry, I take out my better pieces before they go in the dryer.

Hang-dry your nicer clothes, boys.

Not you housepicks. Your Affliction t-shirts won't feel the difference.
 
My GF does all my laundry. I will wear dirty pants to work as long as I am going to continue to get them dirty the next day. I have so many t-shirts that I could probably wear a different one every day for at least a year, maybe more.
