Not at all, nowhere near the level of violence of the neighbors to the north. Some bad petty crime and drug hoods but you'd never have to see those. I live in a very safe, easy neighborhood and it's right smack in the middle of the city, none of that gated communities bs expats go to.

Just enough bad to make it fun without the scary shit like guatemala and honduras, and without all the bullshit of ticas and colombianas in cr and panama. Good country in the middle.

I gotta get down there one day.

(and bring a box of flip flops with me.)

No interest in smoking anything myself.

I don't want to get judgmental about it - because I have smoked many things in my life - some of them completely useless (cigarettes). But as of right now, smoke is something I move away from rather than towards. Like if this room caught on fire, I would leave. Okay that is partly because of the flames but also the smoke.

I've only ever had two real cigars in my life. Once when I was 18 and my friends dad was showing me the proper way to prepare and smoke one, and once with the guys when my first was born. I enjoyed it on both occasions, very relaxing in the right setting, IMO.
