Besides treachery, WTF were we watching??

Wish I could own someone the way putin basically turned trump into his prison bitch...

you too? What is it that you want Trump to do?
I mean I'm not sure what the US strategy towards Russia is. Pretty sure it's goal is to maintain hegemony around the world which means burying a potentially unaccommodating Russia. ...Perhaps Trump's strategy involves the illusion of good intent and civility. :dunno:

But I'm just blown away at this attitude in media (and perhaps a considerable part of the public) of demonizing Trump for his apparent attempt at civil discourse with the President of another country.

Do you all really want war so badly? Do you want Trump to challenge Putin to a wrestling match?
Did you expect Trump to accuse Putin of whatever sins the US media invented? Obviously you don't set up a meeting like this to listen to a bunch of insults and accusations. Makes no sense. wtf's wrong with you people?

My view too! Unreal! Even some Republicans are bashing Trump! Everybody's jealous an OUTSIDER got into the WH! So right now with limited info Russia is guilty? Though we already know for a fact how dirty the US of A's DOJ and FBI were!

Plus we're constantly spying on each other so if Russia did have something to do with the election, how poorly equipped were we to not detect and prevent it? Shame on us! Also this situation would have all disappeared if Hillary got elected, just like her emails!

Come on now guys, vlad basically inadvertently admitted he helped Donnie dumballs campaign and you think that's ok?

Asking trump to leave his ego behind and just admit to the world's worse kept secret would be asking too much as that requires introspection and the admittance that maybe he made a error of judgment.

Suffering fools gladly is not a trait anyone should have to endure when it comes to world leaders

Really? How? Because he said he preferred Trump, since Trump said he wanted a better relationship with Russia while the other slimeball only showed hatred and disrespect? Pretty sure any self-respecting Russian would prefer Trump based on rhetoric alone.

Furthermore, this holier than thou attitude towards the obvious shit show that's called elections is pretty embarrassing. I watched the Republican debates, I saw the farcical discourse thats presented to the public as something substantive. Poor theater at best.

Pretty clear to me that there is little substance to any of the anti-Russia accusations. And that includes the farcical US elections, the England poisoning stupidity, the drugs in Olympics and whatever else. But there is a definite agenda to disparage Russia and make any aggressive actions towards it, palpable to the idiot, racist, and exceptionalist part of the US public. ...And that part is looking larger than I realized

no biggie
Sending US ambassadors over to Russia at the request of Donnie, to be questioned aka interrogated/tortured all par for the course...

Nothing to see here...

so it's ok for Russians to be questioned on some fake "meddling" charges by Americans, but not an American shitbag who made a fortune in Russia off of shady deals to be questioned by Russia (Brower). And yeah the diplomats (Mcfaul) job is to meddle. If you don't like "meddling" how about closing down the 800+military bases around the world. Yeah, your exceptionalism is showing. ...not that either is likely to happen.

And where you get torture? Abu Garib, extraordinary rendition, "yeah we've tortured some folks" <- I don' t think that was Russia pal

The fact that you have to point out the double standards shows the delusion that these guys suffer from. Russia is just a recent example.

Fair point though those follies you point too didn't all occur under the one dictator.

MH370, Chechnya, Syria (because genocide seems so "in" right now)... And that's just off the top of my head. Wonder what they have in common? Remind us all again which dictator was in charge (or pulling the strings) when these events took place?

Not saying democracy is perfect or doesn't have a element of (mostly) unfounded moral superiority, but will say that if given a choice between growing up in a land of wealth and opportunity, or that where my access to opportunity is limited because one person controls what happens to tens of millions then its kind of a no brainer. And yes I have lived extensively in communist countries so have walked the walk so to speak...

I really can't see how anything you've said here has anything to do with anything.

You think that throwing out names (such as Syria Chechnya and whatever that other thing is, maybe you mean the airplane flying over Ukraine) makes a point. It doesn't. We can debate all those things, but for starters, if you're saying Russia caused a genocide in Syria you have it exactly backwards. It was those imperfect "democracies" who funded and mobilized various terrorist groups in their drive for regime change and destruction. And it's nothing new. Perhaps if you stop calling them democracies and start calling them imperialists and their vassals, then everything will make a lot more sense.

I'm not sure where you could've lived in a communist country. The only even socialist countries that exist in the last 30 years are Cuba and Korea, and they are tiny countries under huge pressure. Of course it must be hard living there.

And finally fyi, Putin is hardly a dictator, his power is very limited, and Russia is hardly a sovereign state since '91. If it was, none of this stupidity would ever see the light of day. It's more of a colony, though a belligerent one, with a potential to regain it's independence. And that's something the imperialists can't allow.

Xpan, let's get back to the initial crust of the thread for a moment! Remember when someone left the mic on? Oops! Don't recall much media outcry of this cow tow Obama moment toward Russia! And didn't really upset me cause I felt that it was best for us to get along with Russia!

As he was leaning toward Medvedev in Seoul, Obama was overheard asking for time — “particularly with missile defense” — until he is in a better position politically to resolve such issues.

“I understand your message about space,” replied Medvedev, who will hand over the presidency to Putin in May.

“This is my last election … After my election I have more flexibility,” Obama said, expressing confidence that he would win a second term.

“I will transmit this information to Vladimir,” said Medvedev, Putin’s protégé and long considered number two in Moscow’s power structure.

The exchange, parts of it inaudible, was monitored by a White House pool of television journalists as well as Russian reporters listening live from their press center.
