For a stadium which has seen it's own fair share of implosions over the last few years, generally at the hands of Tony Romo and his postseason inefficiencies, today marked the last implosion as Texas Stadium was reduced to mere rubble in a demolishion estimated to have cost a total of $6 million. It was demolished on Sunday morning by a crew that drilled over 2800 holes and packed over 2700 pounds of explosive into the structure.

The stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys for all of their five Superbowl wins, was designed to have a retractable roof but it was subsequently discovered that the structure was unable to support the weight of the roof so the stands were enclosed but not the playing field. The design of Texas Stadium gave former Cowboys linebacker D.D. Lewis the inspiration for his oft-repeated quote: "Texas Stadium has a hole in its roof so God can watch His favorite team play".
