I have always loved Sonic Youth and I heard them first back in the early 80's with some of these other bands. Are they considered college rock?

Not posting a song in case they are not since Matty is also a big fan of theirs and Daffy seems to think he will hate this thread

We like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (and that track) but we're not sure if we can allow that in this thread.


We would allow it in a Totally 80's thread but we're really torn right now.
 
I can just go look at KROQ's top songs of the 80's, which is station here in SoCal, and probably add a lot of good stuff in here. I will not because I still don't know what is considered college rock and what is new wave or other genres. I suck
