Speaking of foods, my mother has lived in France for about 5, going on 6 years now. She makes American food for her friends all the time, she said the one thing they loved the most:
Pancakes!
They thought they were just the greatest thing!
It always amuses me to hear how they react to american food, things we don't find that special or different, or of lesser quality, they are crazy about!
I bought a bag of Hickory sticks yesterday and it had the Hostess logo on it.

Pancakes are the most common street food in Paris. I'm guessing that your Mom's pancakes are different.
Now peanut butter, bring them a jar of it and they'll think you're an alien.

Yeah, the puffier kind I guess. The French make thin crepes.
