Reno, I like baked goods, but twinki style, that doesn't count as a pastry, that is just junk food.
Though I will admit most of my favorite sweets are not "american"

They've been under (in bankruptcy). This has been ongoing for quite a while. They failed to find an agreeable contract with the worker's union that would allow them to become solvent.

There are a bunch of potential buyers lined up though. I seriously doubt it will be gone for good.

When Russians came here there was a temporary panic because the typical white/wheat bread type of stuff was considered uneatable. Luckily Colorado Springs made a German style bread that was imported to the Russian deli type store which opened up

Yeah bread and pastries are Superior in Europe. I think they use corn syrup here and the bread tastes like cardboard. We have some Czech and Polish neighbors and they say the same. Man I would kill someone tonight for some freshly baked spanakopita!

That's the problem with the world. People are so goofy-in-the-head over things being familiar that they don't stop to question if it actually has any value.

Speaking of foods, my mother has lived in France for about 5, going on 6 years now. She makes American food for her friends all the time, she said the one thing they loved the most:
Pancakes!
They thought they were just the greatest thing!

It always amuses me to hear how they react to american food, things we don't find that special or different, or of lesser quality, they are crazy about!
