Thanks. At this point I'm still learning doing it in my own house. I wouldn't do it as a career. Same thing when I built a deck and a fence in my house. I also replaced part of the hardwood floor that had some damage. If you show me how to do something once I can pick it up from there. I'm just doing it to learn and not necessarily to use it as a career.

Well you know if you want something done right then learn to do it yourself. Youtube is a great resource to learn how to do shit around the house, but if you are mechanically inclined (and I believe you are) then learning how to do things should come pretty easy to you.

Thanks Saulty! I did all the painting myself anyway to save money! Contractor did the bathroom next to it with lots of technical crap to do and no wonder he said, "sure paint the 2 rooms yourself!" Probably would have had to send the 2 morons to paint rooms! Might have even told me do the finishing of the drywall also if I knew how to! Had lots of jobs to do! Good help must be hard to find!

I don't know about Canada Muddy but here in the US Home Depot and Lowes have free lessons on how to install a bunch of things in the house. The first step is to buy the tools. If have the tools then you will be motivated to learn how to use them to fix things. It's like when you have a piano in the house and you get motivated to write music. If you didn't have the piano you probably wouldn't write music.

Home Depot puts on little courses like this on Saturday mornings. Laying tile, grout, etc. stuff like that. even drywall. I've been to lowes site before. I believe they have how-to videos on the site.

The kids are lazy as fuck these days, unreliable and want to make $30/hour right out of school. They have piss poor attitudes. If Muddy learned a trade or went to school he would be hired by a contractor in a heartbeat.

My wife helps with the painting. She likes to paint a lot. Every few years we change colors in our house. But yeah if there is something you can do yourself why hire someone? All you need is time!
