Ah well there you see, electric is included in my rent.

I have not tracked food expenses but they are probably not wild in my case. I never eat out and my tastes are not extravagant and I seem to have a good rhythm for getting my regular supplies on sale.

I surprised Jenny by divulging my car insurance rate. $167/month. I did not know if she was surprised because she thought it was high or low.

I'd say, including dinning out, we probably spend 300-400 a week on average on food, that's breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also, we consume seafood at least three nights a week which accounts for a good portion of the amount we spend along with eating out.

Jaysus. I'd guess under $300 a month for me. Can't imagine that I spend 10 bucks a day. I guess maybe though.

I'm curious now. Maybe I'll track it for awhile.

I regularly do a bi-weekly shopping that's almost always $175. Problem is, I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and those things need to be bought more frequently than bi-weekly (IMO Wally.

I haven't tracked my in between expenses lately but I know I'm doing better than I used to.

I know I spend at LEAST $50 a week on additional groceries/eating out per week on top of the bi-weekly shopping.


We need to revisit our shopping rhythm.

Thomas' English Muffins are a rip off. I've got generic brand here that cost $1 at Walmart and they taste about 75% as good for less than 1/3rd of the price.

The Loblaws where I shop is great for rhythm. They have fairly predictable rotating sales - with very good reduced prices - on all my staples.


pork tenderloin
prime rib
chicken breasts
ground beef
pork chops
hot italian sausages
lasagna
pork roast


When a sale starts, I stock up the freezer (unless I am still well stocked from the previous sale). I never buy any of those items at a regular price and that is the foundation of 95% of my dinners right there.

I'm an excellent shopper.

Ditto, half the time though I end up there twice because I always forget something. Making a list doesn't help either because I usually end up forgetting that too.
