Clearing the market to set the stage for that mega-casino at Front & Simcoe? These foks better offer sportsbetting.

Matty I think it had alot to do with the fact that Platinum was operating out in the open here in Toronto.

I know a half dozen guys with credit accounts at this book. They clone Pinny to the penny.

I remember being laughed at a few years back on SBR when I mentioned the book was operated by the Hells Angels.

There is no doubt they are linked to organized crime, specifically the Hells.

Where did everyone place their bets on the game??

A Super Bowl party attended by thousands of Toronto-area people was abruptly shut down at a Markham banquet hall Sunday night after dozens of police officers showed up to execute a search warrant targeting illegal online gambling.
Several arrests were made in connection with an investigation into a bookmaking operation run by organized crime, said Constable Blair McQuillan, a York Regional Police spokesman.

The investigation was conducted by a joint police task force on an enterprise that handled millions of dollars in bets, Constable McQuillan said, adding that more details will be released Monday.

The event took place at the Le Parc banquet hall on Leslie Street, near the 407 toll road.
One witness said there were three to four thousand people in attendance, watching the game on giant screens and waiting for dinner.
Shortly after the first quarter, all the cops came in, the witness said. They shut down the bar, went through the crowd, stopped at some tables and read a warrant with a megaphone.

The witness couldnt hear the details of the warrant but said he saw one man being arrested who was wearing a sweatshirt with a Hells Angels logo.
Other party-goers also wore Hells Angels colours, the witness
said.

He said that, after a second arrest, as the crow grew antsy, the game video feed was turned off and management began evacuating the hall.
As he left, he saw a man being searched, said the witness, who did not want his name published.

There were 30 to 50 officers, some from a tactical unit, in full gear, with helmets, black balaclavas, body armour and automatic weapons. Several officers were posted at each entrance and police vans waited outside.

Police spokespeople could not immediately be contacted for comment.

Photos posted on Twitter of tickets to the event indicate it was organized by Platinum SB, a sports online-betting site.

On Sunday night, the site had been blocked by police. A note said the website you are trying to access has been restrained by court order granted to the Attorney General of Ontario with the assistance of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU).
