ESPN 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis reports Sunday that Colts QB Peyton Manning needs another surgery on his injured neck. The report says he is out indefinitely, though the team would not officially comment on the matter. Manning has undergone two procedures in the last year-and-a-half, and the latest one caused him to miss the majority of the preseason practices along with all the games.

Contrary to a previous report by an Indianapolis radio station, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports there are no further procedures planned for Peyton Manning "now."
Radio host John Michael Vincent admitted he would be "torched" if his report didn't stand up, and that looks to be the case. Mort does say that Manning is being re-evaluated by several doctors because of his slow progress in recovering from May neck surgery. While Manning may not be out long-term, Mort says it's now more evident that he will not be ready for the season opener "barring a miracle."
