Just checking out the hockey game and noticed that they just sang the Canadian anthem at a game not even featuring a Canadian team. I guess Buffalo are just saying thanks to 87% of their fans in attendance who are Canadian. Keep supporting the local economy in Buffalo my fellow Canadians. They need us!!!

BTW..... it was on the radio that the Toronto Maple Leafs generate 70% of the revenue for the entire NHL. Hard to believe, but it was on the radio.

Detroit plays both anthems also, probably because a large part of their fanbase is canadian.

I cant believe that Toronto has a 70% share on the NHL. Maybe in Canada only, and that would still be hard to do.

You probably misheard Puckerballs. Maybe they had the largest increase in revenue in the league with 70%? That would make more sense. No way they generate 70% of all revenue.

MLSE is one tightly-run ship.

I say no national anthems at sporting events. If you gotta do it, do it for opening day and then you're good for the season.

Screw the national anthems. Unnecessary repetitive shit.

:mudcat:

In the USSR they only played it when another country was competing. They would play both anthems. Playing only your own anthem is retarded especially in the US when the majority of players are Canadian anyway.

Agree with Mudcat on the no to the national anthems. Totally unnecessary for every game.

I remember being at the dog track in Sarasota FL and they played the national anthem before the card of races, same thing with the horses. The first time I was present at a track in the US and saw everyone stand up and put their hands over their hearts for the anthem I was like "wow, American degenerates are far more patriotic than back home".
