No. Quebec City as a whole is more pro-Canada than the rest of the French-speaking province. They're very anti-Montreal and anti-immigration though. Odd group of people.
 
I always thought Quebec City were hard core Frenchies until a year or so ago. I'd love to vsit the place now. I hear it's a very nice city.

Why is QC anti-Montreal?
 
QC City is hardcore right-wing Frenchies. They have the same attitude towards Montreal that old stock, suburban Anglo-Canadians generally have towards Toronto. They hate the cosmopolitan, latte-sipping, left-wing "elite" aspect of it.

Both the wife's family and mine are working-class and suburban/rural. They'd get along great if they were able to talk to each other.

Did she speak frenchie before you met her or is this the result of your union?
 
Pre-Matty. She did French immersion in Owen Sound and then moved to Montreal for her PhD.

She laments the fact that I don't sound like a typical Quebecer. (I avoid joual unless I'm with my aunts and uncles.)
