For some unknown reason I stumbled across a YouTube video about RC vehicles. I always liked them but as a kid I never had any and as an adult I guess I figured they were just toys. Then I found that video which led to another and another and now I've logged about 40 hours of watching YouTube videos about not toys but HOBBYIST.

That's right I can justify acting and playing like a kid if I officially consider it a hobby.

Actually it is a hobby to many around the world and in many instances not a cheap one at that. There are competitions in Europe, clubs all over (a couple large ones in Canada) and these things can range from a couple hundred dollars up to 28k. That's right 28,000 is what some dude from Canada spent in time and money on a scale jet airplane. Well come to think about it the US military has remote control planes and such that have cost the tax payers billions so I guess that Canadian dude has got a ways to go.

Seriously though I can't get these things off my mind and I know I'm about to drop some coin to get into the hobby. I like the copters but I've tried flight simulators and I always crash so flying is out.

The vehicles can range from 1/36 scale up to 1/4 scale. The 1/4 scale stuff is pretty amazing but you can almost buy a new Smart car for what you'll end up spending on the RC and unless you're up north, out west or in Canada the clubs and leagues are pretty much non existent for that scale series.

I would much rather have musical talents like Muddy, Coug's or Matty or sexing skills like RJ or Bread but I guess this is what I'll have to settle for.

A family friend would bring us to his RC races that were held in a converted barn. These cars were running on some type of gas and they were extremely powerful. Guys would bring whole scaled-down "shops" with them, complete with extra tires, small gas tanks and tons of miniature tools to work on their cars between races, since they invariably suffered damage in every race.

Shit was amazing to watch.
