GDP per capita in California is 62k vs. 35k in Mississippi. Woulda thought the gap would be bigger.
 
There's a state in the union that has had enough mass of people who have considered leaving before. If they left the USA on their own they'd they'd be the worlds 12th largest economy. I'm referring of course to the possible Texit.
 
He's talking about notional welfare, total dollars spent. Not per capita.

California GDP is 2.5 trillion and Mississippi is only 100 billion. California does not get 25 times more federal money on welfare than Mississippi. Point is rich states support poor states.
