Home game but playing it at the new Wichita arena!
"This Thursday INTRUST Bank Arena hosts K-State men’s basketball for the first time. Fans have been excited about this game since the moment it was announced and tickets have sold quickly. The event’s promoter branded the event “Paint Wichita Purple” and the Arena and community partners are working to make this happen.
As part of the effort, Waterman Street will be renamed “Wildcat Way” for the rest of December. An official renaming ceremony takes place Thursday at 4:30 at the corner of Waterman and St. Francis, just south of the Arena. We hope K-State fans will join us for the ceremony dressed in purple.
The Arena is rolling out the “purple” carpet for this event. The K-State locker room was painted purple for the game. The lights in the south concourse are being changed to purple, and the marquee facing Kellogg will display a special “Paint Wichita Purple” message throughout the day. In addition, our guest services staff will be wearing specially designed purple shirts for the game.
The promoter’s goal is to make the game feel as much like a home game for K-State as possible in hopes of getting future games at INTRUST Bank Arena. We expect the K-State fans in attendance will do more than their share to help make the Wildcats feel at home.
For K-State fans in outlying areas, there is a good chance this is the first time they have been to INTRUST Bank Arena. While we can’t guarantee a K-State win, we hope their experience at the Arena will encourage a return visit."
