just finished reading the book Banker to the Poor by Muhammad Yunus, who started the Grameen Bank. Interesting read, Dr Yunus felt the poor had skills, because they had to survive, and if given a loan they could advance their cause because of these survival skills. Much better to give the money directly to the poor, then to an organization that would waste money on bureaucratic shit.
