Who me?

I wrote 3 novels. With the approximate years they were completed, they were:

Groucho's Supernova - 1993
The Collection - 1995
A Tough Transparent Plastic - 1997

I had a couple offers of representation from agents and went with a guy out of San Diego. Can't remember his name.

Anyway, no dice on a sale.

Regarding the question of if I have copies, I had to check my computer files. I have The Collection and A Tough Transparent Plastic in there.

I have paper copies of Groucho's Supernova which I use the back sides of for scrap paper. That seems slightly odd as I know I had it printed on both sides like a regular book but I obviously also had some one side only. I used to go through a lot of scrap paper when I was working from home betting on sports but now I don't use near as much. I doubt I will run out of Groucho's Supernova in my lifetime.

Yes I have thought about writing another one. When I finish my music project the question will be what to do next - and that will be an obvious candidate. Without getting too deep into the possibilities of that discussion right now, I will probably do something with humor. As those books are all in the humor/satire genre, I'm sure I will look through them carefully for cannibalization purposes (just as I would probably look through the Random Thoughts thread and various other stuff at gamelive).

While I don't recall them as being actually good as they stand, I'm sure they contain some funny lines 'n shit.

Unless I decide to continue with more music in which case that discussion becomes moot.

As I recall . . .

ATTP was an epistolary novel (meaning composed entirely of letters) heavily influenced by drugs. I think I wrote it in something like 5 weeks after I had relapsed, between/during trips to the ER/Psych Ward with overdoses and whatnot.

I haven't looked at it in a long time. I suspect there are, shall we say, gaps in the making-sense. Probably some funny, gonzo stuff in there though.

The suggestion of self-publishing is possible (once I have completed something I like). Self-publishing seems like a last resort but what do I know about stuff like that these days?

Whatever I do, I will probably come straight to gamelive and ask for suggestions of what to do next. That discussion regarding what to do with the music project will be in the not-too-distant future.

Based on the the sample in front of me, I'd say that about 1 in 200 people in the world have bought Ulrich Haarburste's self-published Novel of Roy Orbison in Cling Film. That's about 35 million copies. You can do this, MC.

As I say, I haven't looked at it in a long time. Perhaps I will wince and cover my face and take a look at it (between fingers). Certainly I will be doing that at some future time.

It's probably pretty short. I'd be surprised if it's 50,000 words.

I am positive there will be stuff to cannibalize but I have extreme doubts about its viability as is.

Self publishing is very doable and affordable now a days. Without being too ambitious you can make a nice chunk on the side. We know you have the talent, we enjoy reading you here, I'd certainly help you with online techniques and channel marketing if you decided to.
