Getting caught up on some contemporary movies... Some spoilers (ish) for the bottom two movies.
Black Swan - Excellent movie. Natalie Portman shows good range in acting with this character as the plot develops and Darren Aronofsky delivers a great, twisted story in his unique vision. Not into chick on chick much but Portman and Mila Kunis are one lesbian tandem that I won't turn off.
Drive - Ryan Gosling is a monotone, badass hero. Decent movie but highly overrated. Are you gonna leave a bag with $1 million sitting in a parking lot after you've eliminated any trace back to you? GTFOH. Pretty korny that the guy will drive getaway cars for robberies but then does the "right thing" in the end. Just leave it in a lot for someone else to grab. Whatever. A big fuck you to whoever wrote that.
Knowing - This was bad for several reasons. It's Nicolas Cage. That can sometimes be good since at times I find his overacting hysterical. But there weren't any humorous moments in this one. Horrible script. Have a bunch of supernatural, freaky shit happening? Buy a gun. That makes a ton of sense. And the chick? You're just gonna freak out and run off on your own when Cage has had all of the answers to this point? GTFOH. That doesn't even touch the entire premise of the movie - God deliberately sending messages to an atheist (who happens to have fallen out with his father who is a pastor) about the pending apocalypse. ARGHHH!!! FUCK YOU. Lazy fucking screenwriting and a shithouse message.
