Everybody's Fine

I went into this movie thinking that it would be a little sad but for the most part a heartwarming movie about family. Wow was I wrong. This thing brought Dancegirl to tears and had me watering up. The movie is about a man who decides to travel around the country and surprise his now grown up children after they all cancelled on visiting him for the weekend. He comes to find out that things aren't exactly as they seem with each of his children. I would recommend the movie, but expect it to be emotional and a bit draining.

The Soloist

So I have a bad habit of buying movies that I have never seen before, instead of renting and then never watching them. I finally got around to watching this movie last night. I have to say...i was pretty disappointed. For the first hour i was intrigued about this musician (Played by Jaime Foxx) that dropped out of Julliard and is now playing on the streets in L.A. and the columnist (played by Robert Downey Junior) writing about him was funny and likable. Then the movie went.....no where. It just seemed to be the same thing for about 2 and half hours. The musician is crazy and being pulled in a million different directions.....meh seen that before. I wouldn't recommend this one at all...save your money.

I haven't seen either of those.

The only movie I have seen since the last thread of this kind was Julie and Julia. I liked it more than I expected to. I love Meryl Streep so I wasn't surprised at her great performance but I thought the whole thing held together pretty well WITH ONE MAIN EXCEPTION - the fucking guy who played Amy Adams' husband was disgusting during the eating scenes. Just a complete fucking pig chewing with his mouth open and talking with his mouth full and making every kind of sickening noise. Made me want to puke.

I'm sure the director was thinking that it would show how much he loves the food but no one I know turns into that kind of wanton slop-hog just because it is good food. It was just pathetic over-acting (no doubt attributable to bad directing).

The way I am talking, you'd think it was a huge part of the movie. It wasn't. It was just something that came up a few times - but it got me right where I live.

But overall I give the movie about a 5.8 out of 10. My girlfriend liked it less than me. It is not the kind of movie I would actively recommend to my forum buddies.

I watched the movie The Box last night.

Pretty goofy. It took a classic Twilight Zone episode about a very clean and thoughtful philosophical issue - and turned it into an extended sci-fi wierdorama. I liked the TZ approach better.

I will say this about The Box, it does supply topics for post viewing conversation. It has some of the same creative people behind it as the startlingly popular Donnie Darko, and I could possibly see it developing a similar (although probably smaller) cult following. Maybe not. I give it about a 4 out of 10.

Similar to what I thought about it when I watched recently. I really think the main purpose of the movie is to provoke conversation more than anything....

I watched The Natural for like the 1000th time tonight. Playing baseball all my life really made this one of my favorite movies of all-time. I love everything about it. From the great story, the cinematography, the acting, even the music it really is a great movie. I still get goosebumps whenever I watch a few of the scenes. When I was growing up, this movie made me want to be a baseball player even more than I already did.

Oh man I love that movie. Every woman I have ever met doesn't understand why guys love this movie so much. I always hear that it is cheesy stupid and then they tell me about all these other baseball movies that they think are better...I tell them that they are full of shit because The Natural is absolutely amazing.

I would go with the Twins. The Pirates are miserable to watch whether it be in spring training or regular season. They have no one on their roster that is even intriguing to watch for a couple innings. The twins at lease have Mauer and Morneau which are two of the best hitters in the American League.
