yeah that sounds fun rj  I'm pretty much unmoved by the hype of these fake "rivalries". It would also be more fun if the players were generally from the area they play for. Or at least stayed with the same team longer. How can one root for their home team if the players aren't only not from home but they are not likely to be there for more than a couple of seasons? You end up rooting for some corporate entity: boring

this was from the article. I am not sure if its opened yet

"The Hotel Del Rey, a staple for American bookmakers and their colleagues from the early days of Costa Ricas burgeoning online sports betting industry, announced the opening of its second location this week.

The original Del Rey sits in the middle of what is called Gringo Gorge, a strip of American-friendly bars and casinos in what is otherwise a dilapidated capital city. The bar/hotel is known for employing working women who are often surprisingly down to earth and actually speak English. They can also be mighty frisky.

Some of these ladies have gone on to become loyal girlfriends and/or wives to hard working bookies.

In recent years, large numbers of professional poker players have relocated to Costa Rica from the US following a crackdown on Internet poker there. It is not clear whether these mostly male poker players have contributed to the erection of the new Jaco beach Del Rey".

I was reading about the signing of the cuban gonzalez tonight and heard a guy talking about expanding mlb into the caribbean. a poster mentioned expansion into montreal.I have seen it mentioned alot on boards. did you ever go see the expos matty?

It would be a great expansion city. Montreal had some of the best attendance numbers at its height, guys like Gary Carter, Andre Dawson, Pedro Martinez, Larry Walker, Moises Alou, Vladimir Guerrero etc. In the 40s and 50s had guys like Don Drysdale, Roberto Clemente, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, and Jackie Robinson playing in montreal.

"MONTREAL (AP) -- A crew of Montreal Expos fans, willing to do just about anything to get their team back, has driven to Toronto to watch the Blue Jays.

Organizers say about 1,000 Expos supporters, hoping to attract the attention of baseball's movers and shakers, packed into the outfield bleachers at the Rogers Centre on Saturday for the Blue Jays game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The group wore the traditional red, white and baby blue of the former Expos, who relocated in 2004 and became the Washington Nationals, and held up signs promoting their cause.

''Our goal is to celebrate the history of the Expos and show that there is still a viable market for it,'' said Matthew Ross, who runs the website Expos Nation and helped organize the trip.

Nearly a decade after the Expos left town, there is a small but growing movement to bring a team back to the city. The possibility has become a recurring topic on local talk radio shows and has even influenced Montreal street fashion.

It's no accident the group chose to attend a game featuring the Rays, one of the baseball's more troubled franchises, he said.
The Expos logo has become a source of city pride and a statement for young people barely old enough to have seen them play.

Ross said the pain of the Expos' messy departure has begun to dissipate. These days, people are more focused on joyful memories, and Expos greats like Andre Dawson, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Twitter, ''I hope that the efforts of Expos Nation will one
day be rewarded with a team in Montreal.''

Old timers like me don't want it! Football in London? Don't remember except maybe couple minutes of initial game of watching anymore after that! I would really enjoy more having a Being Rob Ford reality show broadcasted in the US of A! Probably won't happen till he retires from being Canada's PM! Guy is way too busy presently helping others!

LOL
