Severe dental situation all weekend. Throbbing pain in a right rear molar. And of course all the dentists are closed for the long weekend. I found one emergency dentist a hundred miles away who wanted to charge me some ridiculous rate for an extraction.

I seriously considered it but ultimately decided no.

I'm taking pain killers but they barely work. They give me about an hour of relief but then I have to wait a few hours before I can take more or I'll bloody well OD.

Then there is the whole big issue of how dangerous pain killers are for me as an addict.

Can't eat, can't think. Well I can eat soup and pudding. I must admit I have had some nice soup and pudding.

I need one of you guys to come over here and we'll do some kind of Bugs Bunny thing where we tie a string around the tooth and then the other end to a door handle or a charging Buffalo or some damn thing. I need a cartoon solution.

Sorry for the whiny thread but this is fokking wretched.

Take a teaspoon of salt and rub it into the decaying tooth. Then after 15 min spit it out and take 1 oz of hard liquor and hold it in your mouth over the decaying tooth until your mouth is numb.

Repeat above procedure as needed.

Sounds good Pavy but Muddy might not be able to handle this? Muddy you have a lot going on with the group thing and all so don't shut us out and for someone like you we will give you for the most part thought out suggestions!

Thoughtful post. The taking of pain killers is an EXTREMELY serious thing for me. In the past it has been a gateway to some dire situations. I consider it necessary right now - and I assume when I have the tooth extracted (I figure that's what is going to happen), there will be more, better pain killers. But it will be absolutely critical for me to nip it in the bud ASAP. That is not always as easy for me as it may sound and yes, if I am smart, I will talk about what is going on with as many people as I can.
