LOL I don't think I could ever put them both on the nut straight but unless I was really running good and in the mood to gamble I fold..... the biggest problem here is I created some odds with my own money which is not a good thing to do.

The problem is that you created extremely marginal odds with your money. There is nothing wrong with it if it can result in decent return, but that wasn't the case here. You put yourself in a bad position.

The sim doesn't do anything for you. You can do the math without having to run a 9 million hand sim. And all it can possibly show is that your read was wrong.

No way I would fold a nut flush draw there with a possible straight out. You can't be certain somebody already has a made straight. Very well could have a set 2pr he wants to protect or (less likely) even a draw.

I was thinking that but was too chicken to say it, plus I have zero clue how to play cash games.

If you take the exact circumstances in the original post and just change the fact they were playing cash instead of a tournament, I would be more apt to make the call in a cash game.

You can always reload in a cash game which de-values the chips and increases the risk factor or willingness rather.

I still contend he should have folded after the min raise.

After the min raise he had $12 invested in that hand and he should have gotten away from it and picked a better spot to get involved in a big pot.

Or they both could have the nuts...

UTG sounded (from AJ's description of his range) to be a pretty tight player. That was an easy read if you ask me.

As for the button, if he has a set or two pair (with the 8), then you're down to 8 outs (~31%). If he has a flush draw as well, you're down to 7 outs (~28%).

There is nothing worse than getting your money in bad in poker. There wasn't much he could beat. The best he could really hope for was what they had. Two straights. Zero hearts.
