its not a great place. not worth a trip (depending on how far and your method of travel).

I lived in South Lake Tahoe for 7 months. Only 45 from Reno, just a small shafty version of vegas. I recommend doing a stint out there. Lots of cool shit.

Not sure about the sports betting scene, but I had a great dinner there at a steak place when I drove through on my cross country drive a few years back. I can find them name of it when I get home tomorrow. It was surprisingly delicious. My great aunt lives there, she made a killing in real estate in the 80's and it's her favorite place. If you're interested I'd be happy to find the name of it.

For my money, Reno is one of the greatest places in America to live. You are within 45 minutes of like 7 world class ski resorts. And there's sports gambling. And one of my best friends lives there with his awesome wife... both of whom I miss tremendously.

If I were to pick up and move anywhere in the country tomorrow, Reno would be on the short list without a doubt. I considered it a few years back.
