When North Americans hear the word Colombia, they might think of the former drug lord Pablo Escobar, or the Nobel-prize-winning novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez, or possibly a character wearing a serape and leading a burro, a fictional coffee-grower who goes by the name Juan Valdez.

They do not think of David Lightle.Lightle, 55, isn’t even Colombian.

He’s an American from Tipp City, Ohio, who seems to spend most of his time these days in China or Taiwan.“I’m a marketing consultant,” he says, on the phone from Beijing.

Pretty good post there cali, Columbia, Georgetown,UVA, Duke,Stanford etc. or any Ivy league, elite college is a sort of narco state for sure. Washington DC leads our nation in cocaine use. Hello Georgetown and the young lawyers and that make up this town and all the great lawyers and young people who move to the capital. Drug war. lol

I would love to see the stats on poker and underground gambling in the country and DC , so many lawyers, politicos etc play poker in the capital, another great prohibition exercise along with drugs by out nations leaders and leaders to be. My dad told me that DC in the 1960s probably led the country in the number of go go clubs.

"Washington D.C. takes the lead for coke use, with 3.04 percent of residents using in the past year. Other users tend to come from the West, Northeast, and Colorado."

They are the most contented people on the planet, with a happiness score of 75 almost double the global average.

Theyre born tired and they live to rest.

Better known by their Spanish acronym the FARC the rebels have been waging a guerrilla-style military campaign since the mid-1960s. Nowadays, they are a depleted and unregenerate force with minimal public support.

Public support ended in the 60s as well.

Meanwhile, back in Toronto, Concha rhymes off a list of positive economic statistics about Colombia: the third-largest economy in Latin America (after Brazil and Mexico); a 9.2 per cent unemployment rate; $15.8 billion in foreign investment last year; an annual inflation rate of just 2 per cent.

Argentina is third largest.

Colorado, go figure. I've been noticing a ton of cocaine lately, but I figured it was just the times, not Colorado. Wonder why.
