"An ultra high-stakes, illegal poker ring run by Russian gangsters for Wall Street multimillionaires and celebrities like Alex Rodriguez folded on Tuesday, authorities said.

Federal agents arrested about 30 people and brought charges against 34 in total, including underground poker den operators previously linked to the Yankees slugger and other A-listers. The list of defendants includes Molly Bloom, a hottie hostess known for organizing card parties with celebs like A-Rod, Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon

It also includes Edwin Ting, 41, who ran a Manhattan poker club where A-Rod was spotted in 2005 scratching the gambling itch that eventually triggered a Major League Baseball probe. And the 84-page indictment names Hillel (Helly) Nahmad, 34, an uberwealthy upper East Side art gallery owner with a taste for supermodels.

In addition to card games, the sprawling operation flushed out Tuesday operated illegal gambling websites, ran a global sports book and laundered more than $100 million, authorities said.

Bloom, 34, the Colorado-raised sister of Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom, became queen of the Hollywood poker scene in recent years, hosting discreet games at the lavish homes of top actors and athletes and at luxury hotels.
But the mistress of the full house could be headed to the big house. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of operating an illegal gambling business.

“She has no intention of minimizing the case against her, but hopefully, prosecutors understand that even some of our Supreme Court justices enjoy a weekly poker game,” Cole said.

A source said Tuesday that A-Rod did attend poker parties hosted by Bloom but stopped after a 2011 MLB investigation.

The indictment fingers two related crime enterprises — the “Taiwanchik-Trincher Organization” and the “Nahmad-Trincher Organization” — headed by a motley cast of characters based in New York, L.A., Kiev and Moscow.

Lead defendants include professional poker player Vadim Trincher, 52, and Russian crime boss Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov, 64, who was once labeled one of the world’s 10 most wanted fugitives.

They face up to 90 years if convicted on all counts, but Tokhtakhounov remains on the lam in Russia.

Trincher won hundreds of thousands of dollars at an illegal poker game at The Plaza hotel and ran “the world’s largest sports book” out of his apartment,” (???) prosecutors said in court on Tuesday.

Tokhtakhounov was already under indictment in New York on charges he bribed officials at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games to fix figure-skating events.

The invitation-only games that Bloom hosted featured professional dealers with hundreds of thousands of dollars being bet, reports said.

The criminal organizations laundered tens of millions through shell companies in Cyprus, U.S. bank accounts and a Bronx plumbing firm, and used threats of violence to resolve disputes with gambling clients, authorities said.

She's being called the "Poker Princess." Molly Bloom, who orchestrated secret and exclusive high-stakes poker games in Hollywood, just got a book deal. Bloom — as well as Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck — was named in a series of lawsuits seeking to reclaim millions won during unlicensed poker matches.

Last year, Radar reported that Bloom organized the poker circle — everything from felt-top tables to professional dealers to food, alcohol and the guest list.

: In a deposition about her operation, which took in tens of millions of dollars beginning in 2006 through 2009, Bloom admitted she regularly hired women to come in and massage some of the players, who would become tense and tired from the marathon games that occurred twice a week. She did not name the players who received massages nor are we suggesting the massages were improper.

The memoir should hit in summer 2014, and, according to the AP, The publisher says the book will take readers inside the poker matches that Bloom ran in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas "until it all came crashing down around her."

The guy who narced out alot of people was a ponzi scheme guy, a former hedge fund manager named Bradley Ruderman who embezzled 25 million out of his investors. He and a few other hedge fund managers turned around and sued Tobey Macguire and some other celebs for the money they lost playing against them in these poker games. Ruderman was playing poker with his clients money and got taken to the cleaners. I wonder how much of this case relies on a sleaze bag like this ratting people out. This lawsuit was from a year and half ago but it seemed to be the start of this case. He claimed that Molly Bloom actually preyed on Ruderman because he was such a bad gambler, sounds like a sopranos episode

"Ruderman soon began playing every other week. Molly would invite players by text, and mentioned which stars were expected to attend. The games, which were held at such locations at the Four Seasons, the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Viper Room, were by invitation only.

Ruderman told lawyers he became well-known on the game circuit by 2009 for paying his debts. The games included armed guards in bulletproof vests and attractive girls who served drinks and gave shoulder messages to relive tension.

Maguire was one of the most well-known players on the circuit, and reportedly earned up to $1 million a month over a period of three years. Ruderman told FBI agents Jeremy Tarwater and Steve Goldman that the actor was the best player.

The pot was usually around $400,000 during any particular game, and Ruderman said the highest pot he ever saw was $950,000. Players would usually buy in for $50,000. Molly would keep track of who owed money, and she would earn around $6,400 per night. She would also send an assistant to pick up money owed and deliver money won. Ruderman added that players couldn’t play any more games until previous debts were paid.

Ruderman’s losses eventually began to spiral out of control, however. he stole more than $5.2 million from his clients to pay off his card debts. He also told the FBI Molly preyed on him because he wasn’t a good gambler.

Rudermans lawsuit against the people he lost money too in the games

"Tobey Maguire and other celebs are being sued by a group of hedge fund investors, who say Maguire and others won cash in an illegal poker ring, which belongs to them.
Ex-hedge fund manager Bradley Ruderman was convicted of running a $44 million Ponzi scheme back in 2009, and he used client money in these poker games.

Ruderman reportedly "lost $25 million of his investors’ money in twice-weekly poker games at the luxury Beverly Hills Hotel, the Four Seasons and the Viper Room on Sunset Boulevard," according to FINAlternatives.

$311,200 of that sum allegedly belongs to Maguire, including one losing hand of $110,000, the suit said.

"The Ponzi mastermind used clients' money to "pay for gambling losses at clandestine, high stakes poker games that were operated without any licenses or permits," the lawsuit alleged, according to RadarOnline.

Also being sued: leveraged buyouts billionaire Alex Gores; actor and director of 'The Notebook' Nick Cassavetes; Rick Salomon (of Paris Hilton sex tape fame); record label owner Cody Leibel; real estate developer and Las Vegas entrepreneur Andrew Sasson; among others.

Leonard DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon also played poker with the crew, but haven't been sued, according to RadarOnline. The buy-in was $100,000."

Thats the guy on the run in russia? I like this Molly Bloom, her parents were iirsh and Joyce fans? She is a hottie, the poker madam.I am still wondering what they are talking about with that sportbook being run out of the trump tower? Maybe just millionaires making large wagers. Maybe the manhattan police and the federal government wouldnt have top worry about organized crime and money laundering if they allowed sports wagering and poker in manhattan and taxed it, they should be hiring Molly Bloom to run dens and using that rake and tax money, not putting her in jail.

I could see that. I guess this is different but the stuff with Spiros and Legendz, I really dont understand why so many of these guys live in the states knowing what the legal climate is here. Calvin Ayre isnt going to prison, he just stays in Antigua,Philippines, London or wherever living his life and doesnt step foot on US soil. The best books in the world right now outside of Pinnalce are all in Asia, sbo, ibcbet all the sports brokerages like asianconnect, samvo. Why wouldnt these guys just live out their lives in Costa rica,Antigua,Asia or Europe. There is only so much the US can do if the other countries see how asinine all this is. Sacco went to jail for years and Cris still kept rolling, its been 2 years since the seizures of the bookmaker.com,betdsi domain names and no major changes. Richardson did shut down funtimebingo.com though.

I am never setting up a bingo shop in the states, bingo is the next wave of busts I have a feeling. Too much money in the U.S. bingo market for the US Gov. to not get a taste. Granny and the local church better watch their step.

You remember the arrest of funtimebingo.coms CEO
