I ordered this razor. It's endorsed by the Pawnstars guys.

Pawn shop people endorsing razors.

Most likely a POS.

The commercials are hilariously low budget, but the razor should do fine; can't speak to the blades, so if you find that they are getting dull right away, you might want to try Feathers or Bluebirds. Bluebirds are what I use now; cheaper than Feathers and still very sharp. If you've never shaved with a DE before, just make sure to keep the pressure light, use short strokes, use a 30 angle, and be liberal with the shaving cream at first until you know the right amount to use. Definitely a big plus to use a shaving brush, but not required.

Got a sampler pack of Captain's Choice aftershave (half ounce vials of each one)...the North is quite excellent - kind of a pine / juniper thing going on. Sounds like basically just splashing gin on your face, but it somehow works.

Yeah, gotta be either dull blade or wrong shaving angle.

Cartridges are far superior to any other shaving method. I get mine on the cheap from dorco.

IMO, cartridges are wasteful, both financially and in regards to natural resources. You can buy a very high quality razor blade (Bluebird) for 18. That is less than one fifth the cost of the Dorco Mach3-style cartridge and less than one tenth the cost of name brand Mach3 cartridges. I have gotten a more comfortable shave from DE razors than I did from cartridges, although I also started using a shaving brush at about the same time so I can't say for sure that the difference was the razor. But, to each his own.

Shick Hydro 5 is the best razor I have ever used.

I've been really into fragrance lately. I've been into aftershaves for several years now, but realized that the scents don't last long enough on the skin to matter, so I just switched to unscented aftershave and apply a couple of sprays of a fragrance. This one is my fall/winter scent. I think it smells totally incredible; some say cocaine-like :dunno:

This is my spring/summer scent. Pineapple and wood mostly. Doesn't sound terribly masculine, but I feel it is, and it gets a lot of compliments from womenfolk. I don't like this quite as well as Tuscan Leather, but feel this is a better fit for warm weather.

A French press is an old school, far superior way to make coffee compared to the automatic drip machines most people use at home; the coffee produced is much richer and more flavorful. Just make sure to get an all-metal one. Some have a plastic plunger and they break right away.

We recently bought a 8-cup Sowden Softbrew. It's porcelain and the cylinder in which you place the freshly coarse ground coffee is made up of thousands of micro holes.

:pepe:

We are HUGH into dark Italian roasts.

I recently heard about this. The person telling me about it said it's north of $300, right?

I really like this Gilmartin chap.

I am not familiar with the Softbrew! I need to check this out; I am kinda meh about my current brew method (Chemex). I'm HUGH into the lighter roasts ATM, but you have to get them really fresh. Dark roasts have a longer shelf life.

Yeah, it's wildly expensive. Decantshop.com is a handy site as they buy pricey fragrances in the bulk sizes and sell in smaller containers, at a discount to what Creed and the like charge (the per ounce price is WAY cheaper at the larger sizes). They are out of Aventus ATM, but IIRC you can pick up a 30ml bottle of Aventus for around $100 during one of their sales. I get about 8-10 hours out of two sprays, so yes, it's expensive, but I reckon I can get at least 6 months out of a 30ml.
